Hey everyone, our member abeverage has posted some brilliant night-time lightning pics that he took himself in his thread Thor's Hammer! Some lightning Photos of mine.

I thought that some of you could do great avatars using these pics, so I wrote to abeverage (as an ATS member, not "officially" as a mod as it was just my idea) and asked if he'd allow you to use them. He's agreed, and only asks that you either credit him for providing the original image/s or link back to his thread.

So, let's see what you can do with them!

Yeah, they're fantastic, aren't they? abeverage used long exposures and a decent camera and lens to get the shots. Lovely work and I hope some members here will get some inspiration from them.

Here's a very quick cut and resize from one of abeverage's images. (Link to thread in my post above.)


Just a plain resize down to the right pixel height then vertical crop. No overlays, no tweaking at all. I think some of the others are better. Just wanted to give an idea of the general color and light tones.
