Well not really

But they did find an approximation and it at least shows NASA has a sense of humour

Nasa is great in many ways. Sure many organisations would be able to get a man on the moon or a spacecraft out of the solar system if they had the appropriate funding.

But would they retain their sense of humour?

The agency posted this press release on their website today to point out the similarity between a lump of rock the Messenger probe had photographed on Mercury and Han Solo after he was encased in carbonite by Jabba the Hutt in the Star Wars film The Empire Strikes Back.

Humor or not, I've got no use for these people.

We have more than a little evidence of falsified findings, modified photos and lies. Might as well move NASA headquarters into the pentagon.

I thought I had seen that Han Solo image before somewhere...

Here it is embedded on the front of a fridge/freezer, pretty cool though...

Jeez it's only a bit of fun

You can find a spare sense of humour in your shiny new ATS locker

Use it wisely

Fun? Humor? Humbug.

I wonder how much NASA has cost the American public? Sorry but my funny-bone got repossessed, along with my country, in the legal action known as the Great-American-Fraud-of-2008.

NASA is made up of a bunch of geeks, nerds, whatever you want to call them.

You only have to look at the major tie ins they have with Star Trek to see that (Shuttle Enterprise, ST cast members at launches etc)

It is one of the reasons I honestly believe they are not covering anything up in regards to ET and other stuff along those lines, someone would let something slip, regardless of secrecy laws.

Anyway, as for the OP, cool pic, but Star Wars is just science fiction mumbo jumbo, not like Star Trek.

I guess Han never made it to Jabbas palace...

I love it when random strangeness like this happens.

Now add the "face of Mars" onto that body like structure, and you have a complete architectural structure!

Doesnt look natural to me in other words.

Of course it's Pareidolia, but there's no reason to say NASA should know better. They are well aware that's what it is. They are just having some fun, so lighten up.

And yes it took me a while to figure out how to spell it.

Good spelling.

But I disagree, NASA don't have fun. They are a corporative entity not a mate down the pub. They made a public statement. It's political.

In case you haven't notice it fits in very nicely, as our entire political system is a joke.

Saw this on the news the other day. S&F for bringing it here to ATS (and putting up with the Killjoys).

I thought it kind of looked like a old steam Riverboat (the kind that used to go up and down the Mississippi with the dual smoke stacks).

Very cool looking.
