how old are you? my mom worked with a young lady that only drank soda pop all day, smoked, and lived a sedentary life. At one point i think she had a stroke or heart attack or something but survived miraculously....but didnt change her lifestyle and died a few years later before the age of 40.


theres no doubt that everyone has a different constitution....some people are just genetically superior as far as their bodies ability to handle punishment, excess and general bad conditions. Some people get lung cancer from NOT smoking, some smoke until they die at 90 with no problems. What one person can get away with for years with no symptoms others can almost have an immediate reaction.

lesson to me is, find what works for you and go with that in moderation and with intelligent observation. I quit smoking about a year ago, quit drinking two beers every night, quit eating a pint of hagen daaz every few days and quit drinking soda pop almost completely.....and guess what....i feel worse now than i did then and its been over a year. The body is a very strange thing....


In all seriousness, that's true.

I can tell you that I drank booze to the point that weeks would be missing. The still would be caked with left over boiled wort, and the brew tub would be growing new life forms. It was all in the space of a day, but it would be weeks. I should be dead.

Yet when I went and have a liver work up, they said it was not too bad. My cholesterol was fine and I didn't have an angry heart the size of a pumpkin. I pondered this... If that is what I did, and this is how I am, What the flaming hell does someone who ends up in hospital on life support waiting for a new liver, what .. just WHAT the hell are they doing.. drinking paint stripper? I couldn't imagine anything worse than how I was, yet ... apparently it was only light weight, according to the machines and the technical fidgy widgy.

this wasn't a one off either..

how I made it out of that hell, I still don't know. I must be destined to do something. Wether it's press the big red button and kill all humans, baby, or save the whales.. who knows.

Yep. Should be dead. and perhaps I am.. *taps nose*

45 minutes: Your body ups your dopamine production stimulating the pleasure centers of your brain. This is physically the same way heroin works, by the way.


Ehhh, nearly everything you find fun will stimulate your dopamine level..
But yeah, your body can get addicted to coca cola. Like you can get addicted to tomatoes, coffee, sweets, running, bodybuilding. You name it.

You can get addicted to everything.

Maybe I could have been a little clearer. I was referring to those I posted this info too. I've spoken many times to them about it and they always laugh it off.

Then I take that back, lol.

I used to get the same response when I tried warning people about the impending financial crisis, and that the US government was involved in 911 and that the UK government was involved in 7/7.

But now, not so much laughter.

Some of this I didn't know. Coke is soooo addictive (COLA FOLKS!!) when its ice cold that I can't resist the gravings. One can will turn into three cans and before I know it, my 12 pack is gone.

I drink about 128 ounces in a day. That's 12 of them haha. And im steady 155 I lose weight faster than gaining it. So no you don't get fat from soda. You get fat for shoving your mouth with food every twenty minutes.

The only thing soda will do is raise my blood pressure. I've never broken a bone from the so called calcium purge and ill still drink them.

But I drink mountain dew not coke.

If you're young and drinking 128 ounces a day and your blood pressure is spiking?? You better stop that right now!! You will be setting yourself up for major health failure as you get older and Mountain Dew is just about the worse of all sodas..yuck!


If you don't think sodas will make you fat, think again. Every see some of those petite girls with the big fat tire in the middle of the belly and around the waist? Yea, all that sugar build up.

I too love coke ,but its very bad for us .
And this thread should not just attack coke ,but ALL sugared drinks with high fructose corn syrup .

HFCS causes massive liver disease ,when consumed in large quanties over a period of time .
You need to cut back .i only drink seltzer water now ,and i feel a lot better .
Its hard ,but you can do it .
Also ,if you crave coke ,you have other sweetness carvings .right
Candy cookies .

HFCS causes fatty liver disease and gallbladder problems .

Thank christ all I ever drank was alcohol. I think it saved my life. given all this bad news.

Yep, alcohol. None of this evil stuff, like sodas and sugary drinks. I heard even a few grains of sugar can kill you!!!! So said someone on the internet.

10 teaspoons of sugar.. well, I used to eat fairy floss at the royal show as a kid... basically sugar spun into a big whopping fuzzy delicious pink fluffy bunch and whacked on a stick. I didn't die or vomit from the intense sweetness. I bought more. I had no one to advocate for my safety. I should sue the royal agricultural society of western australia.

Hmm.. caffeine.. I tell ya.. evil stuff. Makes grown men beat up old ladies as they rush to get to the machine for their hit. It's insanity en masse. You can find them, with their tongues stick up the spout (of the coffee machines, not the old lady) and licking the drips off the side of the dispenser. God damn addicts, with their fags dangling from their lips, eyes squinting, teeth all brown and gooey from the caked on bean residue.

I hear as soon as the drug hits you, you turn into a delinquent criminal mastermind and seek nothing but donuts. Or anzac cookies. I admit, anzac cookies were my only real vice back when I was unaware of the dangers of caffeine and sugar and machines that sell you it on the sly.. "Pssst, hey bud.. got $2.50? I got what you need buddy... come on, just one.. one cookie.." - if only someone had told me


Yes, that rush is something to behold. It's a delirium like no other.

What we need is a law. We have room for more. A law to make anyone who uses sugar or caffeine, a criminal. Lock them up for their own protection. In the big house. With bubba and jona the pious rapist. He won't treat you bad. In with the vermin, you vermin. Teach you to take things that I have decided are bad for you.

And if they start with any illicit cane farms, then the death penalty. Peddling their evil grains of sin.

Damn sugar and caffeine addicts, the lot of you...

One very very important thing you forgot, and it actually should be number 1.

When you take that first sip phosphoric acid covers your teeth and begins
to eat away at the enamel, causing major issues for your dental health,
side effects include sensitivity, tooth loss, and should the use go on for
long periods of time, possible nerve damage or even death should you
get an infection due to the dental issues.

While proper dental care will aid in overcoming this problem it is not
a cure for it, that is unless you drink it quick and brush within a few
mins thus not leaving the acid coating on your teeth there very long.

I honestly would not mind seeing a warning label specifically for teeth
put on every soda bottle, its just fair honestly. I realize people should
research this on their own but they don't and more folks need to know
just how bad this stuff is for your teeth.

Drinking soda or not should be a personal choice, but the effects should
also be well known so the choice can be an informed one.

You want to avoid this drink among with many other soda's when your trying to gain some mass or promote muscle growth. Why? the sugar content is extremely high, and having sugar when its processed in form like that can lead to an extremely high insulin spike. You want to avoid insulin spikes in this form as much as possible because this is what causes your body to store fat.

As far as a post workout meal to promote muscle recovery, you want anything thats protein loaded. Anything with at the very least 35g of protein is a decent meal post-workout, just make sure its a lean protein, so no fatty hamburgers. Or you can take the easier route which would be a protein shake with a fruit in it. But the most important thing is to be eating protein after your workout, you have about an hour interval in which your body needs protein to rebuild your muscles.
