I was reading this old thread and was going to respond, but since most everybody has changed their avatar I thought I'd start a new thread. According to the old thread, Netchicken won best avatar for his guitar playing gorilla. I think he might get a few votes again this time around, his dogbert on the ATS home page is hilarious!

www.abovetopsecret.com...

UP, whats with your new avatar, have you taken up smoking? I also like WOS's matrix, Advisor's UncleSam, and Gaz's ogre just to name a few off the top of my head.

Some of us even change them two or three times a day.*cough*Nans, xaos*cough*
Variety is the spice of life though, right?

Well, I'm smoking. I just took this avatar to show how the leftists are dangerous, as cigarettes are.

Why thanks for the compliment

If we have another competion then lets make it that the peson has to make their own avatar instead of swiping one off the net. It makes the award more realistic then. But we go through so many avatars that which one would be difficult to consider.

Personally I think William makes the best avatars, with great animations in them.

Yeah William and NC make the best animated avatars, I wish I knew how to do some of the stuff they do.

Its not hard to learn, all you need are 2 things:
the software and and idea.

I use paintshop pro, it has an animation shop program. I make a series of pics in PSP (make a base, save it, move the charactors a little, save it, move it again, save it etc) and then import all the pics into animations shop and set the speed. Its that easy.

Dogbert came from a single frame cartoon, which I cut out and make a copy of, one with the hand up ,and the other with the hand down.

I put both over a screenshot of the forum, using the layers command, so each dogbert was on a different layer. Then I set one layer so you could see it, and turn the other layer off, and save. I turn the first layer off and the second on and save. and Voila! the arm moves up and down.

Easy, its not brain surgery

I think william uses a better program from dreamweaver, which appears to be more subtle in its animations.

Sounds easy from your explanation, but I wouldn't know where to start. I recently downloaded photoshop and it looks pretty confusing, I guess it takes time.

I remember that avatar, that was amusing.

Hey Gaz, that wasn't Nans who complimented your avatar.
BTW, did you draw it?

I wonder if we offered a forum on how to learn programs like psp etc used on the internet (or any) whether people would be interested?

PSP is easy to use and you can have such fun...

here's one of my favorites showing secret CIA space base in Montauk used to resupply the moon base. Note the camaflagued tower...

Thanks for the compliment PA...

Actually I didn't draw it (but I could, I'm a trained artist amongst other things). I just thought it was fitting.

I despised that one -- it was SO offensive! Made me so angry (I did mention this to the admins but said I felt I was overreacting) that I quit reading threads where that one appeared.

I've got to say that I like William OS's avatars and Wiliam's avatars and NetChicken's too. Great stuff -- just delightful!

Oh yeah... and I like the artwork in yours, Gazrok. I was wondering if it was by sf artist David Cherry or maybe Bob Eggleton.

I would vote for mine, as numbers tell all, but I would like to vote for Quicksilver, cuz I like the look of his mean ass matrix guy!
