The messages are gone. The database died the final death and we lost the messages. They were creating problems for the old board, and SO thought it was fixed, but then it shot itself and all the old messages were lost.

Using updated Firefox and MacBook Pro with updated OS...

The ads used to stack on top of each other to the right, but now are side by side at the bottom...

I feel crazy reporting this, but I cannot get the new chat to work for me. I can get in the room, see all those in there, change my avatar, font, text color, see my text appear in the conversation area, but no one else sees me. I can send private messages, but no one receives them. It is like I am on some sort of all over ignore. Is that even possible? What am I doing wrong? It is sort of triggering my paranoia. lol I have tried speaking to those who spoke to in the past and have no issues with, they have no reason to be mean to me that I know of. I am on Chrome, no ad block.

That is strange.

Everyone ignores me in chat, but that is to be expected.

PM me for a pre-set time and we can do a test and figure out your issue.

You're not the only one having that problem with Chrome. One of the chat regulars has to use IE to chat and Chrome to browse. Not sure how to fix it though.

How rude that people ignore you, and why should it be expected? The chat room is for chatting and everyone on ATS, so long as they abide by the T&C should be welcome. I will pm you a time to check it out, what is a good time for you? I don't want to interfere with your work or anything.

Ugh, I hate IE. that messes up my computer big time. Do you know if foxfire works ok? Also how do I add another browser and keep it from fighting with Chrome? I am not too savvy with computers. I miss the shows and being in chat .

It works for most. You can use them both at the same time without them fighting. I occasionally ran all three with no problems before.

Yeah. You can import bookmarks if you want, but keep Chrome default.

Click the arrow on the right of the logout option on the top bar, then choose "Chat".

I can now say that most of the main functions are now working on this browser. I still need to scroll horizontally, but only as much as or less, than I had to in the old set-up. What is still not working is the image upload function, the forums function which takes me to the stats, (in the case of the stats page) there is a small info box from AOL in the lower left saying that, "that URL is unavailable" and I'm thinking that reference must be to the forums page?? Are these two pages on different servers? And lastly, (almost) is the Firehouse button which does not work, I'm thinking you are working on that. The final thing, which I can work round with is the menu bar still drops some of the first line of icons into a second line, (that is before using the dropdown part of the menu) I put that down to the same thing as the page not fitting this browser perfectly, I can work round that too easily enough.
So thanks Sceptic for your hard work.

I am getting 2 vertical banner ads side by side at the bottom of pages instead of along the side as I scroll. It extends the bottom of page below last post to make room for the two.

I have found that when I am surfing a thread and want to give someone a star, I give them one. Then I read the same thread again and give them another star! Suddenly I realized I might be able to hand out endless stars!

And then I did some testing, and found out that what is going on is, the first time I star someone, I can click the star and it fills in and they get one. The second time I star someone, the star fills in, but if I refresh the page and do a star count, they did not get an extra star.

The real issue comes when I get excited and want to star someone - it would be cool, although not necessary, to know that I had already done so.

On the messaging system, I did prefer it when the message box was on the right of the screen so that I could see it on my laptop without scrolling down -

In fact, I thought the messaging system was broken for a moment before I tried that.

However, did you make the change due to tablets and smart phones? If that is the case, you might be able to add a button that allows those interested to change from the vertical lineup (new default) to the horizontal lineup in the mailbox, and then save that on a variable under their username or something?

Can we bring that back, please?
