Not really. The Captain of a fast attack submarine or a destroyer is called "Captain" by the crew, but he holds the rank of Commander. Same with a frigate or smaller ship which may have a Lt. Commander as a "Captain." Capt. Crunch gets a pass.

I would love it if submarine commanders dressed like Capn Crunch. It would make movies much more entertaining.

I just noticed recently that it had been removed from my subscriptions.
I have about 100 pics in my uploads for that thread. I'm thinking about adding them to this thread. What do you guys think? Seems a shame to waste them all.

They aren't wasted, they are in the other thread. It was closed because its size was bogging down the servers. It seems counterprouctive to move images from there to here.

BTW, I noticed any attempts to get to the old thread are automatically forwarded here. The whole thread has been erased from the ATS database apparently. Does this mean I need to re-post all my funny pics from the old thread?

That sucks.

In that case, yeah, bring them by. We need to get a maximum page limit on this thread. NO need to lose content that some poor bored ATSer may find enjoyable.

Why? We have enough repetition as it is. Much of this stuff is just being recycled. I know it can;t be perfect and there will be repeats, but this is getting ridiculous. We may as well do a slide show.

I'd just enjoy the new thread.
Whatever SO did, I'm sure he did to keep ATS running smoothly....that huge thread is probably playing havoc on the system...I don't know.

So, I wouldn't rush to make this a 1000 page thread....

Sorry to say, but this IS the new funny pic thread. I was under the impression that the original thread was still up and viewable though? Did that change?

My only request if you're going to reuse some old pics is to choose the best of the best instead of the entire collection, and maybe space em out a bit? We have a long way to go! Thanks.

AND

Someone new to the funny pics thread like me would appreciate some of the classics. I'm seeing many of these pics and members for the first time, and it's a joy getting acquainted with everyone's unique sense of humor.

Thanks for your participation! Hopefully someday we can put the brakes on a new ATS format transition with this thread!

That's what I was trying to get across. Seems as though the original thread has been disappeared and that is just a dang shame. There was a LOT of content on there, closed thread or not.

Should NOT have been deleted, IMO. Lots of effort went into the thread and a LOT of people could have spent a lot of time on ATS looking through it, seeing the ads on the site and just generally enjoying themselves.

If it was deleted entirely, that's just silly.

For our short legged friends . . .

I appreciate everyone's input and have chosen my ten fave funnies from the old thread. I completely understand why the thread was closed, but I think I have attachment issues. Lolz
