And if the chemical weapons came from Benghazi, through Turkey from Libya - then obama and his administration should be charged with war crimes in the Hauge - if only someone in the US would actually do a real investigation into what exactly was going on down there in Libya.

I agree, the chemical weapons were almost certainly used by the terrorists and supplied either by the US directly, or by Saudi or by the US via Saudi.

"if they do have the surface to air equipment provided by Russia, they probably can down the F-22 if they were really trying..."

Then the Syrians are sure getting to grips with there new Russian equipment! What's that less than a week and they are already downing 5th generation fighter aircraft. Me thinks not!

Also what did they allegedly down the other 4 Tomahawk Cruise missiles with? A wing and a prayer would be my best guess considering the altitude they come in at.

If this is true you have to also ask the question, "What else have they got?"

I am thinking of anti ship missiles and anti tank weapons. Syria could be playing this as a cat and mouse game, waiting for the US main strike and wiping out F22, B1 and B2 bombers.

I almost find myself cheering for the other side!

"Heh - hubris out of ignorance - very amusing."

How do you shoot down a Cruise missile traveling just below the speed of sound at an altitude of 50-100ft with conventional Surface to Air missiles?

Even detecting there approach is probably beyond Syria's current radar, fire and control capabilities.

I doubt that will happen, SEAD should take care of that, but if not the B2's could fly through Syrian airspace undetected.

How do you know what they used. Russia certainly has the capability to do so, so does China. Who knows what Syria has bought.

Any main stream news whether Us or syria is all propaganda. You won't find out the truth from either of those sources. Maybe the odd thing on liveleaks and stuff like that might give you a glimmer of truth, but that's all you're ever gonna get.

Russia and China have satellites looking down in real time and similar radar and surveillance capabilities to our own AWACS aircraft. They have the capability to detect the launch of Tomahawks and then track said missiles. Last time i looked Syria did not have any of the above capabilities.

Unless Russia or China provide them with these surveillance techniques I really don't see how they can defend against cruise missile attacks never mind shoot down 4 of them!

Its not like taking out a SCUD missile. These things hug the ground until they reach there target. You would have more chance downing them with an Air to Air missile launched from one of there Mig-29 Fulcrums than hitting one with a Surface to Air system.

Short of running continuous CAPs over all incoming air space and trying to detect them with there forward looking radar systems which are rather limited for this purpose how does Syria even know they are approaching?

Well unless you have intelligence that states otherwise I had not heard
the US was already attacking Syria, so far as we have been told we will
not be attacking unless the vote in our congress OKs it, now im not saying
they are above ignoring the vote and attacking but we are trying to work
from knowledge we already have, not speculation.

If the F22 was attacking and was shot down then yes it was a defensive
action and not an offensive one.

What i was trying to point out is that unless we were already attacking
which supposedly we are not then this gives Capn Merica (obama)
the OK without a congressional vote at all.......

F-22 down said to be down...

It probably wasn't shot down, it probably crashed due to the pilot's lack of oxygen or some computer glitch.

Aren't those very expensive piles of junk. At least everyone and his brother was getting a cut of government dollars going into it.

If it was shot down, could it be possible that the F-22 was shot down in Jordan? If it was close to the border maybe they thought it was going in and maybe it was just flying by it. Just a thought

The only sources reporting any F-22 down, anywhere in the world are GLP, NRT:TV, and BiN. It supposedly crashed yesterday, and yet no one but those sources are reporting it? I'm looking on the source given in the BiN article and oh look! Nothing! Real sources or it never happened, and since there aren't any, it never happened.

BiN claims the LA TImes is reporting the Tomahawks being shot down, oh look, the only article about Tomahawks is that the US could rely on them. Research folks, never happened, and is pure propaganda. An F-22 crash anywhere would be all over every source I visit, and it's not.

Wow.
The nerve to simulate an attack from the Med?

Notice the blue arrows making the red targets turn to bottles of chemicals?
That particular simulation appears to be utilizing chemical weapons as attack arsenal?

Freudian slip?

If you're talking about the Israeli missile test, where else would they? It was a flight test of a new target simulator, which means they were deliberately crashed at the end of the test. There is no one under the flight path in the Med, which means if they failed during flight, no one was in danger of them crashing onto their heads. It's the safest way to test a new simulator.

Anyone with any tactical military knowledge knows this is sheer propaganda. first, our F-22s are not junk, problematic, maybe. The russians and chinese understand that out technology is above theirs, thats why they are always trying to steal it. I have a source and am not interested in the smallest atomic particle of matter of bad information that many dwell on. I personally would like firm proof, and are not completely certain we need to attack anyone, but this is not my choice. Our Navy and supporting military divisions are second to no one, period. Ground politically correct warfare makes us look non-effective, but all out attack, we will rain hell on ANYONE, anywhere. We are buying all of this bs and running our emotions on bad information with a divided and uninformed outcome. Our Aegis systems ships and ballistic subs supported by the carrier air wings with the meanest stuff on the planet would have pinpointed any launch site and destroyed it in seconds. Do not be the idiot in the room and buy the BS, Russia does not dictate modern warfare anymore, we know what they have and where it is, and have at least 2 countermeasures in place to deal with it. Make no mistake, we are the most powerful military still, just wish our leaders were true patriots like they once were.

I would put almost no stock in the shoot downs. The web just throws huge amounts of dis info out here.

Anyway, when a F-22 goes down, I probably won't be shot down unless the pilot causes it.

They've been "going again" for awhile. All the flight restrictions were lifted early this year as well.

The military capabilities of Syria and Iran are extremely formidable - they have the capacity to sink the entire US fleet, the real question is whether they will decide to take that course of action.

Are you out of your mind? The entire US fleet?
