Social Conditioning and Miley Cyrus VMA performance. (I didn't think I'd ever care about this)

If people allow their 11 or 12 year olds to watch filth like the Vmas then they've only got themselves to blame if their kids turn out wrong.

What about the idea of female empowerment?

Ask Helen Mirren what she thinks of Miley's twerking and she will no doubt say something like ' more power to her, i love to see my girls embracing their sexuality'

People talk about the industry and those behind the scene pulling strings but did anyone stop the think that Miley's performance was her own idea because that is what she felt like doing and that all those years under contract to Disney and having to look and act a certain way might have been a tad stifling?

I'm just glad that people are talking about something other than Lady Caca, now that is someone I wouldn't want my kids to be influenced by

I think its comical when someone labels some girl a "whore" for performing a dance and song on a stage. What they really mean is "I personally don't have the guts, let alone the body, to do what this girl is doing, so I'll negativize and trivialize the whole thing so I feel better about not being anywhere near as attractive as this girl who , by the way, is getting the attention that I have always wanted, but lack the looks to get."

Yeah these girls eventually grow up a bit a realize they have a vagina and how it can be used. Let's try to not get The Vapors about it like an Amish woman in 1890.

When it comes to social conditioning and media, glorification of violence and stupidity is a lot bigger issue than sex can ever be.

Wow, that was really well-written. I think it is the first time I've read something like this and actually been somewhat convinced of your point of view.

Was thinking about this. Okay, so there are two ways of knowing what is right and wrong, one of them is through being told, and the other is learning what is healthy or not through experience. Both speak to different types of people.

It is kind of an inaccurate assumption to think that people are not smart enough to know what works for them after trying for a while and making mistakes. What gets in that type of person's way is other people's inaccurate fears that what they want. Of course the other person is smart enough to know what they want, which is hopefully a positive life experience.

While I do agree that this performance was ridiculous, some people think it was cheesy, because they weren't worried about being brainwashed by it because they already knew those were bad ideas about to happen.

Ultimately, if our society decays, it is allowing it to reach rock bottom and then experience and understand. That kind of deep understanding formed by a society experiencing it together is enough to nurture peace for centuries.

I dunno man. I was fascinated by sex ever since I was 5-6, and I'm 30 now. Older kids told me about it, and I (being the curious kid) went to the school library and tried to find anything and everything I could on it. I didn't help that at about 7-8 I found "The Joy of Sex" under my parents bed.

Of course when I got into my early teens the hormone thing kicked off, and I was SUPER horny...but I was already *ahem* since I was like 5. I just increased the frequency of said *ahem*.

I'm amazed at how little my GF knows about male sexual response, or even her own body. Compared to her, I'm practically a gynecologist. She grew up in a "Fundamentalist Christian" home, went to private school for most of her life and was NEVER taught ANYTHING about sex by ANYONE until she went to a public high school.

She honestly thought guys could control "it" just like a finger or toe. She thought after sex I am making a conscious decision for "it" to rest for a bit.... "Can't you just make it XXXXX"

She seriously thought us guys have control over it like a prehensile tail ...

What's the big deal? I enjoyed the show, the entertainment, she was entertaining, it was hilarious!! Yes it was funny to me, if someone wants to get on stage and act like a fool and make millions doing it, who are we to judge. She is an adult now, let her do what she wants.. Don't let *YOUR KIDS* watch this crap if you don't like it. This was nothing that shocking and people need to get over it... END OF STORY

It's women shaking their ass in a multitude of positions...more often than not they appear to be intelligent young entrepreneurs, doctors and educators. This is the next unifying dance for women of all color that's got some junk in the trunk. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!! Way to go ladies
