Last time i check Assad was winning so why risk everything on such a stunt?

If this is true it most likely the rebels in a atempt to bring in the west.

That's a problem tho, given his situation. How does one react.

What choices does he have?
The Nato wants him gone, chances are this whole thing is a sting operation from the west.

Does he go knock on the door of Iran for help? NK?
His allies abandoned him when they saw he needed to fall no matter what. Not to mention the cold sweat they got after they went for Khadafi.

Does he surrender just to be killed or detained indefinitely for the soul purpose of replacing him with a western puppet who has no problems killing innocent people?

Does he fight then to be called a dictator and a cold blooded killer?

I agree he has blood on his hands, but given his situation.. What would YOU do? And don't ask me because I don't have a clue.

Are you feeling sorry for this Hell being? This man, including his wife, are pure evil. Like his father he has it in his genes. One could argue that the rebels are also evil and that this poor country is suffering in a dark cloud of perpetual hell.

The dead children above are but a fractionof what really has been taking place there.

You are trying to apply a mind of good reason and logic on a mind that is plainly insane. No dictator acts sensibly, logically and in a manner where his or hers acts shows a mind of good reasoning.

Look at hitler, how he drove his country to almost complete destruction, yet all loved him in th beginning. Much can be said by other dictators.

The historic list is far too long to mention their names here, but you know what I mean.

I don't feel sorry for him, I'm trying to point out, that doesn't matter what he does, it will be bad.
Choosing between lesser evils is never good.

But it seems nowadays one has only evils to choose from.

One odd thing about that video.

The corpses are too clean.

With nerve gas they would be covered in vomit and excement. The way Sarin and others of the family act the spasms cause convulsions of all musles including the stomach, bladder and anal sphinster.

Other picture form al Jazeera show abit more of a messy picture.

My conclusion is that two types of gas were used the other being maybe a Cyanide based gas or that one of the photos was staged to make it seem worse.

Interesting how this attack coincides with the arrival of the UN inspectors..

Should ask yourself, does an attack like this at this time benefit the regime or the rebels? Eyebrow raising if you ask me.

On CNN now etc. They say as many as 650 gas but not sure about authenticity as yet!
Some gases wont leave outwardly signs!
This was a rebel controlled area of Damascus.
Easy way to make progress in retaking the area.
We will have to see if it is true but I would ut anything pas Assad and his cronies after the numbers killed already!

Looks like the toll is rising and reports are legit.

Terrible.

If this is confirmed, then the "red line" may have been crossed in regards to what Obama has said for Syria. The article goes on to say the Damascus suburbs of Ain Tarma, Zamalka and Jobar were the ones hit.

This story just broke a few minutes ago, so more details should be coming out soon. The article says at the moment, Reuters is not currently able to verify these accusations, and have been denied by the Syrian state TV.

There have been accusations of "low-level" use of nerve gas before in the war, but to my knowledge, there hasn't been an attack that resulted in this amount of deaths.

news.yahoo.com
(visit the link for the full news article)

What 'red-line'?

Is this the same 'red-line' that that liar Obama claimed was crossed before? You know, the last time Syria was supposed to have used Sarin gas on the rebels, but later turned out to be a stitch up of a Western plot with the willing aid from Qatar?

That the 'red-line' you're talking about, or is this another red line?

Syria is poised to win this 'war', and short of a dirty bomb or nuke, nerve agent is the next best shocking excuse to use to propagandise the West into full fledged and open support of the terrorists operating in Syria...they tried it with Sarin a short time ago, tried to blame Assad and Syrian patriots, got found out and now, incredibly, they are trying exactly the same tactic again!

It's shocking alright, shockingly transparent and shows the West has an even more callous disregard for Human life to kill these innocent people to further the agenda for war with Syria (opening up Iran).

Let's see...Obama issues his 'red-line' ultimatum...jumps up and down screaming about how his little red line has been crossed...Russia shows that it's a frame up, the rebels got the Sarin from Qatar and used it themselves...Obama stops jumping up and down screaming about his little red line, and goes very, very quiet about his little red line being crossed, and so does much of the media (the ones not running for their lives or evading being put in prison that is).

Fast forwards a few weeks and here we have Obama yet again, bringing out his little red line #2...yet again jumping up and down screaming about how his little red line has been crossed.

And while all this talk of red-lines is being pumped about the internet and on MSM, Syria is close to crushing the traitors and terrorists (something the entire West can't seem to accomplish in over 11 years fighting them...), it has invited UN inspectors in to investigate the previous 'red-line' crossing, and now the West, once again, expects the people to swallow that Syria used gas...what because it says they did?

That is like Obama saying that in a 100m sprint, the athlete just about to cross the line and win, meters ahead of anyone else in the race, stopped and waited near the finish line in order to trip the other racers over!

It doesn't make any rational sense, except as another cynical and clumsey Western plot to frame Assad..AGAIN!

It's getting time to drop the 'intelligence' from intelligence agencies i think, because they certainly are not doing much intelligent thinking these days.

It's another frame up people, and sadly by the looks of it a very deadly frame up, with real victims.

Quite a few videos from the aftermath of the attack today.

This reporter is saying near 600 victims as well.

-Warning- Some of these videos are hard to watch. Many children were killed in the attack.

www.therevoltingsyrian.com...

Based on the symptoms it is believed to be weaponized cyanide.

With all that is going on in Syria, and all of the combatants, from both sides, how do we know which side did the actual deed if it is true? After all this is a civil war, and neither side is playing fair. We do not want to get involved in a civil war, only to have those who are responsible getting away with this event, if it is true.

Now reports/claims of up to 1300 dead from this attack.

www.cbsnews.com...

I will not be surprised if the official toll is over 1000 at this point after seeing a few videos that have been put up.

What is really interesting about the timing is just hours before the chemical attack, the Islam Brigade claimed to have shot down SAF helicopter over Eastern Ghouta with captured OSA system

syriancrisis.wordpress.com...

This could be a retaliation for the 2nd successful take-down of a SAF aircraft this week. Interesting timing and location.

Seems that the Obama administration is more afraid of the "red line" than the Syrian army is....

Disgusting, no matter how you look at it, human beings, children being exterminated like pests, or insects and no one seems to really give a damn, or are too busy trying to assess blame and motive.

There really should be only ONE response to this kind of atrocity.

No matter what side you are on.

The death toll is estimated to be over 1200 now. The source of the gas attack from rockets tipped with the gas. The Assad regimes denies they did it as does the rebels, so we're in bit of a pickle. I always assume Assad isn't using chemical weapons because he has the most to lose if be does use them, is western intervention/invasion, especially since he's been winning the war against the FSA & Al Qaeda.

If we could determine the rockets used and their origins that could help us figure out who sent them.

Its actually closer to 1,500 now, according to skynews website!

The question is 'who has unleashed this attack'?

It may not have been 'Assad's' decision but some other Organisation.

A pickle?

The reaction should be swift and harsh from the global community on this, there is no grey area here, it's time for international condemnation and intervention... The human race cannot sit by and watch this kind of evil continue.

It has gone on too long, tens of thousands of innocents have been murdered and caught up in the middle of this, and it is only getting worse, can only get worse... The lack of a harsh response is the same as encouraging it.

When the leader of the free world draws a clear "red line" and then when crossed backs away from it, that can only be viewed as first cowardice and as an endorsement of such atrocious use of force, in that region of the world.

Both sides of this conflict have contempt for western governments, no matter which side we are perceived to be on we can't win... But it isn't and should not be about that, we should be on the side of humanity, and protecting innocent human life... These waring factions obviously have no respect for that human life.

If we don't intervene or back up the threats made, then these atrocities are only going to grow in magnitude and scale over time...

Doing nothing and saying nothing now, is the worst possible option, in fact it is a green light for more of the same.

Goddamned murderous animals, no matter how you look at it.
