This whole thread has made me go Awww...

You sound like you are a capable surrogate.
We used to have a "pet" squirrel when we lived in the city years ago. His name was
Nimrod. He was "special" lol. And had part of his tail missing. But he was our little pal and he would visit us almost every day.

You will probably have a little buddy for life now, even when you free him.

I'm sure the proud papa will be updating us daily on darling Nerbal.

By the way Beez, how did you come up with such an unusual and cool name for the squirrel?

The show was pre-recorded, so no, sorry. I do talk about him on next weeks show, however.

Anyone else ever raise a squirrel?

Yes. A few of them. All of them went back into the wild except one. One got very attacked to people. We gave him to our neighbors who had three children. The squirrel - Peanuts - lived many many years. He had free run of the house and would cuddle and everything. He was offered 'freedom' many times but preferred the house and the kids.

One note ... watch out for their lungs. WHen they are very little it is easy for them to take the water or milk from the eye dropper and get it into their lungs.

Don't forget .. they are really just cute rats. Gotta remember that ....

While they are rodents (I had to remind my wife) so are guinea pigs and rabbits.

Sorry but i have to correct you there Beez...

Rabbits are not rodents but Lagomorphs

The rabbit is not a rodent. A rodent is defined as a group of small mammals with continuously-growing front teeth used for gnawing or nibbling. Examples of rodents are mice, rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, beavers, and squirrels. Rabbits have two sets of incisor teeth, one behind the other, this distinguishes them from rodents.
