Not sure if this is the right category for this post, but by all means if not, direct me to the proper areas.

I work at a local store in Kittery, Maine and today a small convoy of armored tank-like vehicles and a hummer or two went by my store. I recorded a video from my cell phone. Now this isn't something that's uncommon except for a few things. To avoid traffic they usually take 95 north or the Route 1 bypass. In this case they went straight up Route 1 which goes though the local tourist spots like the outlet malls.

I have only ever noticed these vehicles used in civilian control like protests or riots. Aside from one Twitter post of a local protest (here) I find nothing related to any military presence around the local area today. Maybe you guys have some answers?

P.S. This appeared to be Naval as I recognized the uniform. I also work and live less than a mile from the US Navy base in Portsmouth NH. I didn't even know the Navy had vehicles like this. I didn't have my phone on me at the time, though I wish I had as I had seen a fully dressed soldier standing out of one of the tank access hatches. By the time I got my phone, they had moved too far up, but the soldier had gone back inside.

If anyone is interested in odd movement of military, we also had a group of military planes cross us a few days ago, seemed to be heading out into the ocean from the west coast CA here where none normally go small border town OR/CA. Took a long time for them to pass so there were quit a few to high to see.

It's troop movement in preparation for the military take over under our government. Prepare to be overtaken and forced to move in to death camps. Did I say death camps? I meant super happy fun time vacation camps.

Military planes flying around here are not unusual. Convoys are.

They look like M1117s but can not tell for sure. Would be expected for the Guard to have some most likely recovery vehicles. Engineers would be my guess.

They look like APC's (armored personnel carriers)
Not sure if that's correct though

OK, enough already! What do you really want from us Canucks? To be met at the border with a 12-pack or a two-four? Dang thursty Murricans. Wish we could deliver but for now it's still take-out, sorry. So meet you at the crossing.

Seriously, if they're engineers perhaps a wild guess here, but could they be there to study an alternate route for rail tracks after the Lac-Megantic disaster?

OMG!
Now they are invading Canada!

...Or, maybe that aspect of the military decided they would rather work for Canada. That would be pretty safe. Historically, Canada has started few wars. Causalities would be light we can assume..

Kittery is in extreme south east Maine. No where near the Canadian border. This is the last town in southeast Maine.

Recovery operations could be it...but recovering what? So far as I know, at east publicly, there were no disasters or accidents near my town in the past few days.

Also an observation. I wrote a thread a while back also spotting a military convoy traveling in the same direction. Unfortunately that time I wasn't able to get any photos/video. Here is the thread.
