How'd you guess that I uses my laptop on my bed? But still, even when I places them on a table or desk it still overheats. I also don't have any animals in my house, unless you're counting the occasional ants and cockroaches.

maybe your right i didnt spend that much on the cooling to be honest my computer has arctic thermal paste on the processor and an arctic cooling fan.then my case has 3 big fans built in 1 on the top and 1 on each side.edit on 13-8-2013 by SupersonicSerpent because: (no reason given)
I suspect that the problem is not in your laptop. Quite possibly, the problem is with your thighs. They are too hot and that heat passes into your laptop.
A home remedy that I've heard about is to hold a tray of ice cubes between your knees as you compute.

Thanks for all the replies! Though I must admit I still don't quite understand regarding the vents, seeing that I can't even see if my Macbook even has fans, is it internal? Also I have a problem with my disc drive, not sure if it's related or not.
