How Pathetic Are You

This is not aimed at all ATS members. But the very few who are so narrow minded, that you cannot even comprehend the idea of seeing something from someone's point of view.

I am British. And I am blimmin proud to be. This will help you understand where I am coming from.

You may say how funny it is and wrong to be proud to be British, but what about all the Americans who go on about how amazing they are to be American etc, the same goes to any person. You cannot moan about someone's patriotism if you are just the same.

There have been MANY discussions about the Royal baby this week. Some good, some not good, and some down right PATHETIC.

How narrow minded are some of you to think that us Brits are stilled ruled over by the Royal family, and that we are worshiping this child like a god. Grow up! Please! We are enjoying this time when we can all just be happy for our Royal family, who do nothing but bring money into this country, and keep up an outdated tradition. Don't you think they all all know that we do not listen to them anymore?

We are not worshiping them as our gods or rulers. Sadly we are ruled by corrupt governments, just like YOU are. We are just happy for once, and forgetting about all the crap in the world, and just having a time to smile for our Royals who have a new member. Yes the coverage was cheesy and over the top.

But so what?

I would rather have that in the news than another story about high taxes and immigrants. Let us have this will you?

Please stop being so pathetic in thinking we are a medieval country who bow down to our Kings and Queens. We are just happy for them. We are not ruled by them, we are not condemned by them. They are a tradition and representatives of our country that we are proud to have.

I would much rather have them than a President who listens to our phone calls, or a leader who mass kills their own people, or a leader to leaves the country bankrupt.

Stop being pathetic. We are not taking the baby so seriously that we will listen to every word that is said and be ruled over. We are just enjoying something happy for once. GROW UP.

Well said, good rant
It is about respect really, I respect my Queen because of what she does.
I have said many times If they abused their power we would chop off their heads..we did it before and we would again.



Heck how many of us Brits made a thread saying we are sick of the 4th of July? I didn't see one.
Let us Brits have a bit of pride in our history and tradition.
Our royal families are enjoyed by most Brits despite the odd ones moaning about them.

Ok, good rant and well said. I have not posted one comment on the subject but here I go.

If this is the case, why are you paying millions upon millions of dollars/pounds to support them?

British people suffer the tax hikes, high cost of living, people dieing in the winter without heat and the welfare getting cut to non-liveable levels but...

That family owns billions in property, pays no taxes, creates laws or stops them from being created etc. And yet they continue to live off your dime?

The only way this is accomplished is if you are a dictator or a God.

All the suffering this family has caused throughout the ages and yet everyone wants to line up to see the new King like a gift from Heaven.

Sounds exactly like what it is IMO.

And BTW, no different over here by a long shot.

We are not paying millions for them, in fact we pay 60p more tax to have them but If we didn't it would cost each tax payer £2.60 more so they are saving us cash.
They do pay tax, they can not create any laws we have a parliament for that, we are not subjects we are citizens.
I wish people would do a bit of homework...

Well this is my first post on such matters.

I for one am so happy for Kate and the Prince, and that their child was born healthy with ten toes and ten fingers. A child is such a blessing, and a healthy one - is a miracle.

I also for one, love British tradition, and should not think to offend anyone for taking pride in who they are and where they are from. Take this time to celebrate in joy. Don't let anyone rain on your parade!

She does work, she had 430 royal engagements last year doing anything from opening hospital wings, greeting foreign nationals and more.
Her estates make our treasury 260 million pounds in tax per year, she only has a small amount of land which is actually hers.
Crown land belongs to the government of the country it is in, be it the UK, AUS, Canada all it means is that she has free passage in that land. She makes no money from it, the governments do..
We give her about 40 million a year, it doesn't go into her pocket it goes towards the upkeep of our castles and national treasures.

It seems to me they royal family's children is motivated to put into society even though they are royalty.

They will risk life and limb rather than conduct themselves as the royalty of the old.

Exactly she has put her own blood in harms way just like many mothers,grandmothers etc.
Harry is an Apache pilot and Will is a search and rescue helicopter pilot.
She can never retire and for an 87 year old she is doing great.

I see her also as a advert for the UK, you couldn't buy the great advertizing the UK have had since the baby was born.
She is great value for money for what she brings in and what imagine she sells the world.
Every country is a business at the end of the day.

I was pretty impressed by the eagerness of Prince Harry to serve in Afghanistan and just be left alone by the media. I'm not necessarily calling into question the character of the royal family (at least not all of them). I'm just not sure how their lifestyle can equate to financial savings for the British people.

Plus I imagine the queen is a chaste woman. So, she deserves her status.

I'm also guessing that the only orders his fellow soldiers had were "Protect the Prince at all cost"

To believe that he was an actual equal is ridiculous. He had a watchful eye on him at all times.
