A man's beloved pet dog was missing for three years from Florida before being found 2, 500 miles away in California!
With the help of kind strangers, the two were reunited yesterday after four days and 30 legs of driving by volunteers to get the dog back home.

It's good to know there are still some kind people on this planet.

gma.yahoo.com...

A pit bull named Smoke is currently on a more than 2,500-mile journey home to California after disappearing three years ago and being found in Florida. And it has taken a nationwide, metaphorical "village" to get Smoke on the road back home.

Smoke's story began three years ago when he was adopted by Eric Hough, a professional BMX rider who lives in Huntington Beach, Calif. Hough already had a Chihuahua mix when he adopted Smoke and tried to change his name to Bayou, which never really stuck. Everyone just called him "Big Boy."
"For whatever reason, that dog and me bonded real fast and it was our family. It was the little dog, the big dog and me, and it was a more well-rounded family, at that point," Hough told ABCNews.com. "Suddenly, I was just some guy with a Chihuahua."

[...]

"This is amazing how people have come together all the way across the United States, and I didn't expect it to be like this," he said. "It's inspiring to watch. A lot of our cases don't always have happy endings."

Hough is at home eagerly anticipating the return of his dog so that his family can once again be whole. "I'm very thankful for the people helping," Hough said. "It's just amazing that we're getting him back."

Thank you!

I needed that today.

And to ATS...Do you understand why we are so in need of the Animals/Pets forum many are requesting and would support? This is in no way a GENERAL CHIT CHAT topic but rather one that deserves to be where it has front and center attention for all of us animal/pet lovers.

This shows how much our pets are considered family to many and are not just GENERAL CHIT CHAT.

In case some Mods haven't seen it...www.abovetopsecret.com...

For the OP...Thank you again for a great thread!

S&F

Peace

Yes, it is good to see "good news" amidst all the chaos.

I agree, we need an animal forum.

Hit the alert button, and make a suggestion straight to the MODs. It is for suggestions too, not just complaints.
Maybe they could have time to include it in the new site they are working on.

Thank you for your contribution.

Thanks!

I won't stop pushing the Animals/Pets forum because the OP shows why we are in support of it.

Thanks again OP!

I didn't realize you had a thread up about this when I said to hit the alert button. Posting on the board was a better idea.

I went and posted my two cents worth there in your thread also.

I hope they (MODs) are reading it!

Good job!

Every time I see a post like this I point to the pets forum or rather lack of.

Thanks for the support as your post just brings it to the front once again.

Peace

Every time I read a story like this, I am struck by the paradoxical nature of mankind. By that I mean, is it not strange that our humanity shows itself more often, when we are dealing with animals? In a week where a referee got decapitated and mutilated, a Nigerian school came under attack from radicals, and a plane crashed in San Francisco, stories like this have a unique, and joyous appeal. Animals remind us of our humanity in the strangest ways.

Yes, animals have that kind of affect on us.
