Nigeria school massacre: 41 children killed, some burned alive

41 students and an English teacher have been killed in an Islamic extremist attack on a boarding school in northeast Nigeria. Some students were burned alive, according to survivors being treated for burn and gunshot wounds.

"We received 42 dead bodies of students and other staff of Government Secondary School [in] Mamudo last night. Some of them had gunshot wounds while many of them had burns and ruptured tissues," Haliru Aliyu of the Potiskum General Hospital told AFP.

I am at a loss of words. What does one say in the face of such pure evil. Islamists are trying to burn down Cairo right now and are burning and killing children in Nigeria, Iraq, Afghanistan and many other places as we speak.

Still, in the midst of all this insanity, I have to believe that the difference between a humble and devout muslim, versus a stone throwing, child-burning, sharia demanding islamist, whom although sais he is a man of Allah, yet carries the mark of beastly violence in his heart, is so vast it is hard to measure. If not, then this entire religion is truly one of the past, with no hope of a good future as it seems to turn men into beasts and not humans of good virtues.

Please stop spreading false reports on Muslims, the incident may have occurred, but there is no reason at all to say that it was "Islamists" who did it, because Muslims don't do such stuff. Ever seen the movie "Blood Diamonds"? They repeat a saying in that that just...fits. It really does. "This is Africa...." As if to say, this isn't the real world out there where everyone else lives and life has rules with limits. It's Africa, where both the best and very worst of humanity have reigned in one balance or another for a few thousand years.

The crime is horrific here..and the tragedy is how it's not terribly rare or shocking over there. All the more reason why Africa needs left to Africans and let them deal with their own issues.

What can be said about a thing like this? At the same time...What can be said about the overall place that has people which view doing this as acceptable enough to go on ahead ...and obviously not figuring it will be condemned within the circles they care about for opinions?

i wonder if people said this about white people as they sailed across oceans and killed off entire populations with diseased blankets.. claiming they were demons and god wanted them to cleanse the land! sounds familiar?

Doesn't matter what ethnicity, religion, color, beliefs that these barbarians are/have. Absolutely disgusting. I wish I could contribute more to the conversation but absolutely disgusting pretty much sums it up.

When I watch a video of the Syrian rebels beheading people and shouting Allahu Ahkbar, are they all shouting that to give Islam a bad name, are they Buddhists in disguise?

Yeah it is a great sin to kill a child let alone 41 of them especially by religious fanatics.

How is it spreading propaganda?

Islam has a core of extremism that many Muslims appear to ignore. You can very well go and say this does not represent Islam but sorry to break it to you, but it does. A significant proportion of Muslims do practice an extremist form of Islam.

I agree with much of what you said Rabbit, but here we are speaking about an innocent child experiencing the horrifying nightmare of a grown up man putting it on fire with no one strecthing out a hand to help, Do you know how utterly painful an injury to the skin caused by fire, excessive heat or certain chemicals feels like?

Whether these children were "african", afghan or otherwise it doesnt matter. This whole deal tells something about us as species. We are still nothing more than wild beasts. Perhaps a bit civilized in certain areas, and refined, but still predators that in the name of an empty concept like religion can kill and torture eachother until no one is left.

Had you carefully read my post, Sir, you would have noticed I posed a rethoric question about the difference between a "devout muslim" and an "islamist child killer". This of course based on the news brought to us by RT. I choose to trust much of what RT delivers in terms of international news; at least compared to the pure propaganda offered by american newschannels.

Now if you, as a self-proclaimed muslim, are offended, despite having carefully read my post I cannot help you, because you seem to allow your volatile emotions govern your state of reasoning.

In ancient times devout and highly educated muslims where famous for their excellent state of reasoning compared to barbaric christians in Europe. Today it seems the roles have changed.

The recent emergence of the relationship between the mainstream media, elected officials, White conservatives, Black civil rights leaders, a Sudanese opposition group (SPLA/M), and a Christian human rights organization, Christian Solidarity International (CSI), caused us to reflect over a long history of covert relationships between US and foreign intelligence agencies and Christian missionaries. In Thy Will Be Done, they write of the Wycliffe Bible Translator's (also known as the Summer Institute of Linguistic -SIL) and its founder William Cameron Townsend's (also known as "Cam") association with the intelligence community.

"This was not the first time that SIL had served U.S. government intelligence purposes during the war. In 1942, after discussions in Washington with "some men who are interested in furthering good will between our countries", Cam specifically requested SIL's Mexico City office to solicit reports from "any of our workers who may have observed efforts on the part of anyone to make the Indians think that Americans are not their friends." Cam's directive ended with a message, "Please give my regards to Mr. Lockett in case you should see him in this connection."
