ATS members, how can this be fixed?

By watering the Tree of Liberty of course.

Voting people out is not possible...There is only one party and the members are seemingly groomed from cradle to office.

I posted my response to this question as a thread, just now, here...

Welcome to Planet Salem

Watering the "Tree of Liberty" is pointless as long as we are all poking holes in each other's water buckets.

I just had to reply. I was thinking about leaving the US too. It's downhill momentum is picking up speed each year. Our government is falling behind other countries I once thought were controlling. I find myself actually respecting speeches by other leaders more than our own. I know we are the great experiment but we are now getting advice on sovereignty and being true to the people by Countries that used to be seen as living in the dark ages.

If you're a US citizen, the Government owns you. You can leave, but the US Government still requires you to report about your errands, and pay US taxes irrespective of whether you spend any time in the US at all (only an African dictatorship, and Sweden does that in the rest of the world).

You can decide not to report or file your US tax return, but then you will get punished severely for not being a good sla... i mean citiz.. i mean voter.

You can decide to denounce your US citizenship but then you will get punished financially by having to pay an exit tax on your entire estate, as well as not being allowed to ever enter the US again for any reason whatsoever.

Land of the free, anyone?

It can't.

We all know that once implemented there is no fighting it. Simply because the fight is too great and the People's outrage is too little and short term. It will be like everything else, "I'm doing nothing wrong so have nothing to worry about". and on and on and on.

Until of course the time arises when someone knocks on the door asking to search without warrant because of "Suspected" words or phrases used in their letter to Aunt Sally.

Pick one:

www.dailymail.co.uk...

My favorites:

Recovery
Infection
Sick
Flu
Aid
Relief

Just in case Aunt Sally is sick right?

My team is considering buying some Mexican pork from some cloud based web site. I'm a bit concerned about health issues, but in the case we would get some kind of infection and get sick, there's probably good relief aid to get for a quick recovery.

And of all places who would of ever guessed the postal service has some type of tracking..would you prefer they lacked such logistics?

I wish they used that logistics to actually keep track of letters and parcels for their customers rather than for the Governments (and mysteriously losing a good percentage of all letters and parcels along the way).

Great post and food for much sober thought.

The fact is, the people who are aware and wary of this surveillance are painted with the same brush as folks who are sure it's part of the biblical prophesy and that we are ruled by a cabal of rich dudes with ties to reptoids and Satan... and really, who knows, heh... but that doesn't lend credence to the discussion.

30 years ago, I was a stupid high school kid involved with exploration of mental vistas via chemical methods. No big money or ties to those that had... just the usual friend-of-a-friend got something experimentation. I had my own apartment my senior year.

I find out, through nice landlords, that a DEA narc squad who were watching some serious money deals in a trailer court (caravans for the British) next door have switched their attention to me and my fellow high school experimenters.

I notice tails on my mundane errands. I hear clicks on my phone (landlines back then). I see the camera lens pointed at me from their upstairs apt. They must have had days of tapes of kids in '80's punk garb sitting out in the courtyard of the apts. looking at their hands. I found it more amusing than sinister at the time.

I had DEA, federal guys, being paid to watch me, a 17 year-old nerdy kid partying with friends. I think some of the attention, after a month (or day) and they were sure I was "harmless," came about because they were bored and there were pretty girls involved. And that was back in caveman days with much less sophisticated tech.

Do you really think that people being people, the guys in charge of such cool surveillance won't use it for their private: amusement? blackmail? control?

Knowing any history and basic math will tell someone that, eventually, the people in charge won't be benevolent. I know many think the guys in power aren't now, but I mean true jackbooted thug types.

So, since we can't stuff the Genie back into the bottle, we must change our laws. Sex and drug laws must be re-worked to allow more freedom, because with enough laws everyone is a criminal.

And oversight... we need more "sunshine" into this world so that abuse is reported and dealt with.

I guess we need more citizens who give a crap and are informed.

In short... journalism.

Saw the headline, not bothered to read three pages.

This is kind of HELLO!. (rolls eyes)

Of course the TPTB track your mail. It's probably easier than tracking electronic mail. They certainly have more time.

Oh! And customs xray it and stuff as it crosses borders.

No surprises there.

I'm moving on to a different thread.

Rat

PS. Love the tracking service in the UK. Put your tracking number in online and it tells you where your mail/parcel is in the system. What's wrong with that? there's a difference between conspiracy and paranoia......

I can imagine a bunch of agents loading up all your details now on a computer, browsing all the people you know, where they work, your families employers details, etc... I bet it would not take long to reach the guy and have him fired before you can even reach him. Obviously I doubt this will really happen, but it seems like the direction we are heading. It is a shame people still don't even care.

Why did it take so long for this info to be posted. This has been out or I have known this since before Snowden, and or how the Govt. tracked the Ric-en(?) (not sure the spelling) letters to the supposed perpetrators.

I don't think anyone has discussed the worst part of this deal where they can open and repackage, replicate ANY letter or box to the exact specs, without you ever knowing. We are all sitting ducks and are just waiting to be set up by our own country. Have a great day.

U.S. Postal Service Logging All Mail for Law Enforcement

Mr. Pickering was targeted by a longtime surveillance system called mail covers, but that is only a forerunner of a vastly more expansive effort, the Mail Isolation Control and Tracking program, in which Postal Service computers photograph the exterior of every piece of paper mail that is processed in the United States — about 160 billion pieces last year. It is not known how long the government saves the images.

Together, the two programs show that snail mail is subject to the same kind of scrutiny that the National Security Agency has given to telephone calls and e-mail.

Read the full story on the NY Times website for all the details.

A mail cover is a surveillance tool used by the Postal Service to monitor the mail of a person suspected of criminal activity by recording the information on the outside of all letters and packages delivered to a home or business. Law enforcement officials say its an important investigative tool, but privacy advocates say the practice is ripe for abuse because it lacks judicial oversight and is shrouded in secrecy.

So here we have the final "mainstream media" confirmation that all US citizens are tracked through all methods of communications, online and offline.

Despite the ridicule "conspiracy theorists" have often received for our "crazy notions" with an apparent increase in marginalized dismissals -- it turns out we were right all along. Not that I feel good about that.

ATS members, how can this be fixed?

Reading private mail is as old as America itself.

This can't be stopped... it CAN be regulated appropriately... but you'll never get it stopped.

I agree with pretty much everything you are saying but had to add a plug here.
US Mail has been monitored since 1955.
U.S. certified mail began in 1955 after the idea of Assistant U.S. Postmaster General Joseph Cooper.
Pretty much every piece of mail delivered by the usps since 1955 has been tracked and sorted and sorted again. They have been doing this for over 50+ years.
Since 1970's, all mail goes thru a processing station. If you live in a city of less than 100,000, and you want to mail something just across town, your letter will go to the nearest major city, up to 100 miles away, be sorted again, and then travel back 100 miles to be delivered to a residence a few blocks away from you.

In the mean time, your letter was sorted , sorted again, hand sorted once or twice, put in bins by route, hand sorted by Your Mail Carrier and then he/she deligently carries a heavy bag down the street and brings it directly to your house. In the pouring rain your letter arrives the very next day.
Give it up for Mail Carriers! The most honest and ethical Civil Servants left in the US.

No way, postal workers are way too busy to care who sent who mail. Only if the mail is certified, delivery receipt etc.. If Investigative gov. agency tells them to monitor specific mail they will do it but other than that, they have 100s of thousands of pieces of mail every day.
Your water bill, your Fingerhut bill, all mailed in a Priority fashion and delivered directly to you in time.

From

The high priest ordered that only Tyrian shekels would be accepted for the annual half-shekel Temple tax because they contained a higher percentage of silver, so the money changers exchanged unacceptable coins for these shekels. Of course, they extracted a profit, sometimes much more than the law allowed.

If my body was a temple to a higher power, I'd be required to steer clear of any moneychanger on the street?

If it was a problem in the temple, it must be a problem in the streets...

Oh the irony, here we have a board which has some really bright minds who have repeatedly tried to motivate other members to use the ATS collective to achieve something. Who then only got deleted thread because it isn't allowed by the T&C.

We have apps like TL;DR ( for the intellectuals amongst ourselves wink) And we have banners to follow us on FB HA HA HA.

Fact is if and i'm sure the forum administrators will agree on this. if you even think of trying to make something of your life on this forsaken planet you have to bend over and take it like a slu...

If someone chooses to exit the system you might as well go live on the streets.

I'm sorry but the older generation f*cked us royally by its lack of empathy and its lack of doing something. As long as they got their big home, their garage, their BIG SCREEN TV. The next generation lol let them fix it.

All of this is our fault, it has always been our fault, as long as people think with this "my backyard" syndrome the world will never change.

And yes ATS Reflects this perfectly. Simple example

The new logo's from ATS are American based ( think political madness ).
Even though this forum has members from all of the world, threads about saving the world will alway start with the people of America.

Sad truth really.

I'm pretty sure we where all very bad people in our past life, and we got send to the worst neighborhood of the galaxy.

However, if ATS would actually do something and start like a " WORLDWIDE " think tank which actually tries to find a universal problem, i'l be more then happy to join.

You know... Do something.

Good question. Not easily, especially in a time when a lack of real education is the norm, and the average young person thinks the founding fathers were evil, freedom is bad, and those that take freedom away are some sort of messiah. I actually have a family member (not in my household, but closely related...) that seems to have NO issues with the government listening to phone calls, reading emails, etc. Their statement on the issue is, "If I don't have anything to hide, why should I care?" I could scream. I pretty much gave up discussing politics with that person anymore. One, it's useless. Two, if things got really bad, I could literally see this person informing on family members that stood for freedom. Worst part? This is a teacher. Think about that one!

I guess the place to start is education. Taking the kids out of public schools, and shutting that system down entirely, would be a start. People refusing to pay insane prices to universities, and demanding real education there, instead of more propaganda, would be another step. Unless we can teach the next generation what matters, there is no hope. After that, some method of getting the rich fat cats (apologies to actual cats) out of the political system, and electing real people, would be a step in the right direction. As it is, we basically elect whoever has the most money.

"Motivation = cognition that leads to a behavior. If someone feels hopeless or apathetic how can they change their thinking? Too many ways to list in a post but one is groups that work through issues such as here at ATS. There are ways to get past that argument but your very correct - it is monumental. I don't know how many people are posting on ATS daily or how many more just read and aren't members but those numbers can be used to build strength in a cause. "

I agree with you. If you are of that mind, perhaps you will agree that one way to treat apathy is to contact your congressman & senators on a regular basis and tell them what you want them to do about fill-in-the-blank. If enough people did so, it WOULD matter to the elected.

I'm trying to rally people to DO something, too.
Hold Them Accountable
