(CBS News) NEW DELHI, India -- The global manhunt for Edward Snowden has turned into a diplomatic standoff between the U.S. and Russia, with the Departments of Justice and State -- along with the FBI and White House -- all pushing the Russian government to hand over the NSA leaker.

www.cbsnews.com...

Hey Kerry psst Russia doesn't give a damn what the US thinks, and I can hardly blame them.

Seriously I don't think too much of any of the players in this latest 'distraction'.

Not the US
Not Kerry
Not Russia
Not China
Not Ecuador
Not Snowden.

Hey Kerry?

The US has no friends.

*Dislaimer, I'm not a lawyer or Political science major this is all opinion*

Funny stuff, I bet putin and friends are shaking in their boots right now.

I understand respect the relationship but its russia come on remeber the spy rings, we bust you you bust us yada yada yada,

He has no clout here fortunately, and I'm glad because whats was done was "illegal" but it was justifiable imho because what they did was illegal. Two wrongs don't make a right, but it takes to to do that dance, snowden is paying his price, being an international fugitive on the run. Now the US pays theirs being powerless to do anything because we burnt to many bridges.

That statement is real hypocritical of Kerry, what exactly has that man or any of his slimy cohorts in DC ever respected? Kerry acting like he's the big cheese and issuing demands to Russia is actually quite comical. However given Russia's recent stance on supplying Assad with high tech weapons, warning against a US imposed No-Fly Zone in Syria, and their refusal to engage in weapons reduction talks Kerry may actually be adding fuel to the fire for a much larger escalation of an already sensitive situation.

The best thing that Kerry, Obama, Biden, or any of the others in DC can do right now is step back and stop the demands. The whole of the DC comics already look like a laughing stock to the rest of the world, they're just too damn stupid to realize it.

Interesting comment that in a 'celebrity death match' with Kerry and Putin it's a given Putin would win.

Kerry would lose.

I guess there is a bit more than that. I don't know if any of you remember, some years ago a Russian arms-dealer arrested by the US in Thailand and brought to the USA and sentenced to 25 years. 2 Russian pilots arrested by the DEA some couple of years ago some piss ass country in Africa for allegedly helping smuggling drugs, also vanished in the US- gulags. Well if you go about and piss on Russians or any citizen about in the world and behave as if the US law is the ONLY law that matters, don't expect Russia to react in kind.
OTH we have to consider that the USA seems to push its laws and interests all over the globe, demand extraditions etc. but are refusing to be a signatory member of the ICC - so no US citizen can be charged with war crimes. USA has not signed the ban of land mines, cluster bombs and all those nasty lil' weapons other rather less 'civilized' countries seem to dislike and are repulsed by. On should remember a clean definition of law. It stops at the proverbial "line in the sand" that is called an international border. Past that line is THEIR laws not the USA.

They are pretty upset with China currently and I'm sure Russia knows this. However do you think Russia will really turn him over? That's the question.

I think they Obama admin said that they are confidant that "Russia will do the right thing". If I recall correctly they said the same thing about China and we see how that turned out...

I guess the ONLY way Russia is going to return him is if they get the USA to F.O. of Syria, Iran, and remove the missile shield that bothers Putin so much and a few other "cookies". Or Putin is pushing for a new cold war, which I would do in his shoes. Back then the lines were pretty clear drawn. As an old saying goes: Good fences make for good neighbors.

I think its very important to them to adhere to the rule of law and respect the relationship."

It is very easy to see to coercion to rule of law that wishes to oppose the rule of the jungle or nature.

IMHO the "Beast" that Putin is would understand the necessity for the rule of law in a civilized society to be in balance with the rule of nature.

Respect is earned through trust and not handed out freely, How has the US earned Russia trust and vice versa over the years?

Is there any way we can take a collection and donate some shovels to the Obama Administration and co. so they can get a start on where their careers are going to end up?

Continuing with this charade with the help of MSM will only further incriminate those who believed themselves in the lie.

That they could convince you too, that they could and will get away with it.

It's funny that a piece of garbage that has no respect for the people of his own country would dare to ask another head of state to respect anything.

I hope the information that Snowden has spread out brings all of DC down.

Its funny you should say that because according to Biden, Al Gore, who knowing lost the election and accepted the Supreme court ruling anyways, is a true American Patriot.

Kerry did do the same thing four years later

This man was elected president of the United States of America,” Biden said according to the pool report. “No, no, no. He was elected president of the United States of America. But for the good of the nation, when the bad decision in my view was made, he did the right thing for the nation.”

“I can’t think of very many who would put his country first like that, at a really, really, really difficult time,” he said. “There’s an awful lot of folks Al and I both know who have run for president and still haven’t gotten over it.”

“Al, you set an example for this country that is going to live as long as recorded history, about the man who won by a decision that I think constitutional scholars now and in the future will conclude was an ill fated decision,” Biden said. “The way you stepped up, it was amazing.”

That's because they all serve the same masters. He did not do anything for the good of this nation, he is a traitor like the rest of them.
