My thoughts exactly. He could've been driving reckless and speeding, or he could've been in a rigged vehicle. In fact, he could've been put in the r/c car after he was murdered in his sleep. As crazy as that may sound, it is at least a possibilty. Someone close to him should know whether or not he normally drove reckless or way above the speed limit too. What was he doing out at 4 in the morning if he wasn't on meth? Even early risers aren't on the road that early. Generally speaking of course. I also find it interesting that there was/is no crumple zone in the front of that car? Just did a little digging and it said Mercedes was the first to come up with the idea. The engine flew out for godsake, and the front doesn't look destroyed like it should (I'm assuming). Read something about stiffer aluminum frame in those though.

Also, he was calling a lawyer sometime between midnight-2am to say he thinks he's being investigated?? That in itself is odd too. Did he notice he was being followed/watched earlier that day? He obviously had a reason to suspect he was being investigated. Are those the people that rigged up his car? Sounds possible to me. 'Hey I think I'm being watched/investigated yada yada'. Guys kill him, put him in his car, crash it into that tree/detonate something.

'He was speeding so he was a douchebag! oh well!' = Great cover for whoever took him out. In our desensitized society, who has any sympathy for someone who crashes their car while speeding like a maniac? Very few.

Jumbled thoughts, but thought I would share them with you fine folks. Hope no one thinks I'm one of those conspiracy nutjobs lol

My thought is that he passed out (or was incapacitated somehow) in the car and just kept accelerating.

From what I could understand of the witness in the second LoudLabs video he lost control just after bottoming out at the Melrose intersection, hit the tree, and then immediately caught fire.

I say that anytime a journalist dies while being investigated, something dirty has went down. The US government has it`s police state at this point. The American people failed to stop it. Journalist are coming up dead and people who speak the truth must hide in fear of their lives. Yet, another reason why I have no intentions of returning to America. That place is insane!

Absolutely agree. The mathematical probability of this being an accident is increasingly implausible. Young men don't just drive into trees every day, this is not a common occurrence. The fact that he was potentially working on breaking a very important story on the NSA/FBI and he contacted others about this on that very day tells me there is more to this.

But, we need evidence of this.

I think finding out more about what he was working on will help, but the physical evidence of the car he was in and his remains too would be important to any investigation for evidence. Obviously, the latter is not going to happen. If it was an assassination then everything has probably been destroyed or covered already.

Since "speeding" is why some people are shrugging this off as 'oh well he had it coming', let's logically think about this.

It's 4am. The only people on the road are:

A.) A few people with legit reasons to be on the road
B.) Drug addicts
C.) Cops

No one in their right mind is speeding out of control at 4am for no reason. Way too risky.
If he was going 60+mph, it was obviously because:

A.) He was trying to lose someone.
B.) He was worried about potentially being followed.
C.) He was already dead in an r/c rigged car.

The 'oh well' crowd needs to keep things in context. He was talking to a lawyer a few hours before, discussing concerns of being investigated. This wasn't some drunk kid on his way back from the beach during spring break. Context matters. In this case, if he was alive behind the wheel and choosing to speed, he must have had a good reason. It's insanity that some people brush this off as 'he deserved it' just because he was apparently speeding. I think someone knew that if he was "speeding", a good chunk of the population would have no sympathy, another chunk would be apathetic as usual and think Kardashians baby is a big deal, and those pesky conspiracy theorists can be made out to look crazy for asking legitimate questions.

I know that some witnesses can get descriptions wrong but a guy sitting in his car at that same stoplight (that Hastings reportedly ran through) described the car as 'pearl white' instead of silver. Because some people are questioning whether it was Hastings who ran the red light I found this statement interesting.

If you want the article let me know and I will look for it and post it.

The government's war on (independent) journalism. It's clearly a bipartisan effort.

The mainstream media curries favor with the government, and does not fulfill its traditional obligation to hold those in power accountable for their actions. The alternative media for the most part does just that. Hastings is a fine example.

RIP Michael Hastings.

THANK YOU for the thoughtful reply - yet please refrain from slandering investigators with the code word "conspiracy theorists" since it has been used by the Far Right and media to dissmiss any and all investigation - as if, and I have had this thrown into my face over and over, no conspiracy could ever exist - even as we hear this morning an Enron exec. in Prison for CONSPIRACY to steal billions is getting his sentance halved thanks to a huge gov. criminal cons....you get the idea.

NOW to the biz. at hand, nasty!

Nearly ALL US citizens have been taught that their gov. would never even have high tech devices with capabilites "beyond their imagination". ALL ex- employees say that if there is any new device developed anywhere they must have 2 or 3 of them no matter what the cost. And since they do tend to be extra costly they must use them for something; and most are only good for silencing or eliminating folks with no trace.

The reason these things work so beautifully for them is this very point - Denial is so easy when no one will "believe" these things are possible. As one who helped develop some of the best yet was frozen-out of any of the huge funds we spent to develop and build them, well while there is usually a 20 year wait to find out what secret stuff we have flying around i can tell you all about stuff i designed it 10 years ago. My favorite joke about this is 'Why buy the cow when you can milk it thru the fence - and then send someone to shoot it in the head so no one else can have any' (I got better)

Who am I? Mods tell me I can not put my name on posts so I need to find a site/service that does not demand total secrecy/while demanding total knowledge. (Super Mods- how about instead of "Deny Ignorance", rather negative really, try 'Free All Knowledge'?)

Mods say they will get back to me about this - until then I must go back to being -
OWL MAN - aka Sherlock Homeless -The Smartest Yet Poorest Private Investigator the World Has Ever Known/Not Known. [known mortal enemies 36 and counting]( Keeping it light since I have once again been visited and alledgedly poisoned, but I will get better with a little help from my friends, who unfortunatly would no take my warnings seriously about these gov. DRTK gangs and are now dead or dying.)
How about - Al Edgedly?
much more modern.

I'll see if I can find it again.
But after seeing that video and then the picture of the intact gas tank the whole drone strike, though crazy, is seeming to hold a little water.

I just dont see why he would be worth risking such a thing though.

The car was silver. The witness probably got the color wrong due to street lights. The dash can video clearly shows he was not being followed.

How many odd things do we have to see before the clouds clear. I am skeptical by nature and all these odd things are starting to draw a scary picture in my mind.

Things are not what they seem and TPTB know the best cure is time. The more time goes by the less and less people will question. Just look at all the events of the last year and how many are still talked about. This man death will be just foot note in a week. Apathy of the mind is the tool TPTB use.

And it works like a charm every time.

GREAT post BanTV!!!

One potential cause that you left out from your very logical post is something I mentioned yesterday and got zero traction:

Perhaps a pedestrian was crossing Highland Avenue when Hastings, driving at high speeds, noticed the pedestrian and knowing he wouldn't be able to brake in time, swerved out of the way and instead of hitting a pedestrian, he hit a tree. If this is the scenario, many will ask where is this pedestrian; I'd suggest the two most basic explanations: the pedestrian was undocumented or the pedestrian just didn't want to get involved.

Personally I have many questions about Hastings tragic end, but believe that the most logical/common possibilities must be included in the discussion in order to have a fair discussion about Hastings death.

While many have said that the LoudLabs video of Hastings tragic end was captured by police dash cam; think again:

Video of the Michael Hastings car crash aftermath has been released by LoudLabs News.

One of the company’s freelance videographers who was following-up a Justin Bieber-related tip just happened to catch with his dash camera what is purported to be Michael Hastings running a red light (see embed above). When the accident is reported over a police scanner, he rushed to the scene and filmed the fiery blaze that consumed Michael Hastings car after he hit a tree in his Mercedes. A public-spirited citizen is seen trying to hose down the car before the Los Angeles Fire Department arrives.

Source

From another source, LA Weekly:

The video, by freelance TV news crew LOUD LABS NEWS, shows a vehicle blazing through a red light on Highland Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard, only four blocks from the crash:
The video appears to have been taken from a LOUD LABS vehicle awaiting the night's news.

Freelance videographers work the night shift in L.A. because local TV stations don't budget enough for expensive, three-person news vans to work overnight. The freelance crews listen to police scanners and sell their footage to the stations.

In this case, the LOUD NEWS videographer appears to be in standby mode, with a camera rolling, when a car blasts through that light.

Soon after, multiple reports are heard on an LAPD frequency regarding an "ambulance traffic" accident at Highland and Melrose avenues only a few blocks south.

The video indicates those calls came in four minutes later, but we'd guess, given the vehicle's speed and proximity to the crash site, that if it was the same Mercedes connected to the Hastings crash, it was more like a matter of seconds.

The videographer hauls it down to the crash site and spots a vehicle in flames. The video posted above ends just as the one we reported last night, which shows the fiery inferno, begins.

That solo-car accident was reported at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, LAPD said.

We learned that traffic investigators believe the Mercedes-Benz C250's motor was found about 100 feet from the burned-up car.

Ex-LAPD traffic official Harry B. Ryon said the position of the engine indicates the car was traveling at least 60 miles an hour.

More than a 100 comments on initial article on the Hastings "accident" in the Guardian (UK) were deleted (including 6 (all) of my own). I had never seen such moderating, it was beyond a joke and made me join ATS.
You would think that any journalist (or newspaper) worth his salt would be keen to investigate the untimely demise of a reputable colleague... or is it just me?

How about the witness with a list of names? And a FBI case number?

The engine was only a few feet in front of the vehicle? He ran to the vehicle where did the tow truck come from? No talk about green barricade or water gushing up from the ground that he hit before landing next to the tree. And why does this guy have a FBI case file number? FBI: 3029EB3?

Um, I don't think anyone said it was a police dash cam. I said dash cam, and you seem to have inserted the word police....

Every article I linked clearly says it was a LOUDLABS reporter who had previously been trying to follow Justin Bieber earlier in the night.

WAIT!! COULD IT BE THE BIEBS IS INVOLVED!!???

Another poster informed me it was police dashcam video here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

While possible, I think it is highly doubtful that Hastings was suffering from a case of Bieber Fever at the time of the accident.
