If it's just plausible enough for Neo to believe it's worthy of at least a dozen stars on ATS.

Apparently a vast majority of our budget goes towards the first family and their vacations. Their never-ending, constant vacations. I'm pretty sure a large portion of the country actually believes that the president doesn't do anything except travel the world and hold campaign rallies.

Why should they believe otherwise? The house is busy passing bills on a daily basis...anything from union busting, repealing Obamacare or defunding ACORN all while trying to increase our DoD budget. Of course, congress is hard at work on these bills while the president goes golfing. That's what Rush and Glenn told me today. That must be what's happening.

Well, Europe is very angry at Obama right now. There could be an assassination attempt from any E.U. member nation, Russia, or rogue group.

Was listening to NPR today. They were talking about how great it was to have the G8 Summit there because it was all about peace.

I guess having aircraft carriers is Obama's idea of "peace".

Care to take that troll somewhere else?

Really what does any of that have to do with aircraft carriers off the coast of Ireland.

It was all about which side gets to continue selling arms to who in Syria.

Yeah that was some 'peace' summit.

What criticism would that be?

These 2 political trolling posts ?

www.abovetopsecret.com...

www.abovetopsecret.com...

This is the op:

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Whose source is Ireland's Belfast Telegraph in the UK that has exactly jack squat to do with American politics.

As to carrier locations civilians aren't privy to that information I could call up Xi Jinping sure he would know, but then agian and Irish news organization would also know.

Then there is this

www.gonavy.jp...

That states the Truman and the GHB left port around a week ago plenty of time to cross the Atlantic.

Looking at the current carrier positions, the only two full deck carriers were already in the Atlantic on planned exercises. As of June 12th, the Nimitz and Eisenhower were in the Arabian Sea, Truman is on SUSTEX (showing WESTLANT), and Bush was on TRACOM (again showing WESTLANT). Roosevelt entered second half of RCOH (this is a huge overhaul to include new shafts, new screws, island upgrades, and more), Lincoln just entered RCOH, Vinson is off California on squadron level workups, Washington is at her port in Japan under 6 month SRA, Stennis returned to Bremerton last month after two almost back to back deployments, and Reagan is off California working up.

The other possibility is that they aren't aircraft carriers at all, but are LHD class ships. The media frequently mistakes them for aircraft carriers since they carry a small number of Harriers, and helicopters.

As for the comment about carrier locations not being available to civilians, yes they are. You won't know the exact position, but the Navy has no problem releasing the information, as long as there isn't a reason to hide them (such as being in an active shooting war against a major opponent).

Wouldn't expect the navy to update their site saying 'here these two carriers are off the coast of Ireland on babysitting duty'.

Why people think they would actually list what they are really doing is beyond reasoning.

Why are people shocked that at a G 8 summit where the most powerful leaders on the planet are meeting there would be aircraft carriers off shore? Look the marine force recon are stationed on carriers arguably one of the best special ops on the planet within minutes of a major conference. If a situation arose they can hopefully come in and handle anything the police cant and have the full capability of a carrier battle group to call on. Seems like it makes sense to me this isn't a normal presidential visit how often do you see that many world leaders in one place. Dont think those carriers are the only thing off shore trust me.

The Marines don't "own and operate" anything. They are carried on Navy ships, and use their resources to get ashore. The closest that they come to "owning" a ship is the Wasp Class LHD, which transports a Marine MEU and their equipment, but again, it's a Navy ship. Under their charter, the Marines operate as a ground and security force for Navy ships, and while they're a separate entity under the Department of Defense, they go through the Navy for transportation and some funding.

I read your OP, and a few replies after and have but One Question for you.

Do you Honestly think it was Obama who decided he needed the Protection you mentioned in your OP?

They don't have to list them as "babysitting off Ireland" to be able to tell where they are. If they say they're in EASTLANT, then you can safely assume they're off Ireland. There is no reason to hide their position if that's where they are. However, reading another article about this, there is at least some misinformation going on here (as usual). The other article I just read said there were two large ships "owned and operated by the US Marines", which is completely wrong. The US Marines don't own and operate any ships, they're transported by the Navy where they need to go, if they're going by sea, and the Air Force if they need to be there in a hurry.

Fine Obama is not responsible for anything he doesn't make any decisions whatsoever hell really why do we even have him.

After the past 5 years Eastwoods 'empty chair' routine never rang more true.

Since when is Ireland in the west Atlantic?

You just proved yourself wrong with that link. Stop trolling us with your terrible OP.

When it comes to security the President (regardless of who he is) doesn't have a lot of say in the matter. After Kennedy, the Secret Service started telling the President what they were doing for security, and not giving him much say in the matter. They are the ones that arranged for any ships to be in the Ireland area (although the Obama haters are going to blame him no matter what anyone says).

The fact that some people still defend the dear leader with tooth and nail is very disturbing. It sickens me infact. Remember; this is the same guy who had Marines holding umbrellas for him..

The G8 do it because they can! They like to rub the noses of the common man into it to prove they are superior and the common man can do nothing about, at all. In 5,000 years of known history, humans have not 'grown up' one iota.

I could see a light carrier for logistics and Marine 1 deployment but can't find any info . Have heard reports of fighter cover though. In response to this.....

Since retaking control in 2010, House Republicans have aggressively cut spending at the State Department in general and embassy security in particular. Chaffetz and Issa and their colleagues voted to pay for far less security than the State Department requested in 2011 and again this year
If this is true then was plenty of money .One question I have had is where did it go after attack.www.nytimes.com..." target="_blank" class="postlink">www.ny... times.com/2011/12/23/world/africa/us-seeks-program-to-buy-up-missiles-loose-in-libya.html?pagewanted=all
