Hi ATS
I don't really write poems and I don't think I'm all that good at writing, the last poem I did was in RE studies in school about religion. But I do
have a short poem here for you to read if you like, it's about a clipper that was built to move things to Australia and other British colonies of the
past.
The Torrens was a ship,
Of composite design.
A well built ship with hardy steel
and she sailed pretty fine
But her job was not for good
and her deeds are all but forgiven
For she took the destitute and bad
from this land that they were driven
Australia you say?
Where the Kangaroo plays?
Or is it a land we send those...
Who we could not care for anyways?
From the sweat and tears of mackems
A vessel was to take form
That committed to a voyage
Sending men and women into the storm.
Alas Australia is free
She sits now in the eye of the storm
Forever Australian she'll be
Regardless of past or norms
So I say this poem for you
My brothers and sisters a far
Our deeds are not forgotten
you are remembered wherever you are.
The Torrens was just a ship
And the deeds were just a farce
She sits at the bottom of the sea
and the crown sits on it's arse
They hold nothing on you or me
but the history should not be forgotten
Because we are sovereign and free
and the Torrens is sunk and rotten
Hope you like it, I enjoyed writing it... I think I'll try a bit more
Take it easy on me as I said I haven't wrote a poem for atleast 10 years, by the way my avatar... That is the Torrens ship
