The UK 'Independent' (beyond laughable I know) recently released a pro GM piece, bashing organic food, actually claiming organic food is dangerous, whilst singing the praises of GM.

Not much else really comes to mind other than 'please God, come and help us'.

'If GM crops are bad, show us the evidence'

Equally, no-one has died or fallen ill directly as a result of eating GM food. Studies showing that GM food damages the health of laboratory animals have been discredited. Contrary to what the pro-organic lobby would have us believe, it is actually more dangerous to eat organic food – as the 53 people in Germany who died in 2011 from eating organic beansprouts tragically discovered.

Those who have actively opposed GM technology have frequently expressed anti-science rhetoric – hence the Frankenstein allusion – but it is now incumbent on them to produce the scientific evidence to back up their claims. It is no longer possible to argue on simplistic grounds that GM is “unnatural” and therefore inherently wrong – if we opposed everything that is unnatural we wouldn’t practice medicine for a start.

GM crops are cultivated for good reasons, supported by scientific evidence. It is time for GM opponents to accept the facts.

This is our media, the press is supposed to be free and well as this paper is called, 'Independent'.

This is most likely just the beginning of a huge propaganda push for GM to be accepted in the UK, now is the time, if you haven't already, to start growing your own fruit and veg, before it is too late.

I know times are hard - I bought a relatively 'decent' oven meal the other day - and I had to bin it - couldn't even swallow the first mouthful .... I don't what on Earth it was - but it wasn't bloody food!!

And to gain the same nurishment we would have from cabbages 100 years ago - we'd have to eat 50 times more!!

My diet really isn't healthy - It's not healthy because I can't afford to eat healthy - what I can afford is to disgusting eat... Oh well.... Size 6 here I come! (UK) lol

Is there a scientific study conclusively demonstrating GMO food is bad? I have not found one. Everything I have read contains the words, "possibly," "could," "potentially." I could potentially break a toe if I buy a certain type of shoe...

I would like to see some supporting documentation for this statement.

Whether it is safe to eat or not, it is the fact that these companies lobby our politicians, they have them under their control.

The seeds are patented, they are monopolising the food supply of the world, country by country. If it doesn't worry you, then at least worry for the poor bastards who will come to inhabit this world after us.

Yes there are independent studies by scientists that are not beholden to the biotech industry. They were slammed and derided by scientists that receive funding from Monsanto and have grants provided by the industry.

When these so called "scientists" disparage these truly independent studies they do not reveal that they are paid by and owe their sustenance to Monsanto.

Pfffft

If 'official' scientists come forward, they are discredited.

I often laugh when people read some alternative news and say it isn't reliable, thereby inferring the only news sources they trust would be 'MSM'.

The scientists who mean anything to you are controlled and silenced, they are paid by the companies making the GMO seeds.

It is a racket, a criminal racket and GMO is hand in hand with the NWO. Control of the world's food supply, able to add whatever they like to it, do they want the seeds to not replant, then use the 'Terminator' seed. In the future, 'food' will be able to contain vaccines, contraceptive measures etc, where does it stop??

There's several active threads on ATS right now discussing the findings of various lab studies of the damaging effects of animals being fed exclusively GMO feeds.

Rats and Pigs both are showing negative health effects, including liver misfunction and stomach inflamation and damage.

The 'discredited' study is the one with the rats suffering liver damage...it's discredited because the company responsible for producing the garbage fed to the rats, Monsanto, BOUGHT the company that produced the study and results...it's easy to discredit or retract statements made by a company once you've bought it lock, stock and barrel!

Indian farmers are being driven to suicide, after suffering up to 40% losses in GMO cotton crops, after being persuaded the GMO cotton would be a huge yielder...the farmers over extended their finances to buy more land to plant the GMO cotton, but it didn't produce even as much as traditional cotton planted on a smaller acreage.

Methinks 'the Independent' isn't as independent as it claims to be...or at least, is doing ZERO research on either it's stories or probably more to the point...some of it's reporters...at least one of them appears to have been compromised.

GM bad until PROVED otherwise. It's not for us to eat it until it is proved safe, that's just plain stupid. Under current regulations, tobacco would never have been allowed on the market, how come GM can? How many farmers in India have committed suicide because of GM seed? I read 125,000 on one report, 100,000 on another.
I know it may seem futile, but we need to remember that we pay the wages of our M.P's and M.E.P's and we must write to them, and encourage as many people as we can to do the same. They need to know we will not accept this, we need to tell them that we will hold them liable WHEN the shtf, and we will be calling for proper justice, and if anyone supporting this s**t is found to have benefitted financially, that justice will be prison.

The 'news' headliner is a misdirecting misgiven disinformation...
That is - the 'burden of proof' is not on they who should site the known harmful factors of a relatively unknown substance, technologically historically speaking (tv is older) that is - but on those who claim benefit without such 'burden of proof', being impossible given is short timespan of application.
Its a fallacy treat the sensational (propaganda) headline as anything other than ignorance..."denied!"

Thanks

So, you can provide no study conclusively demonstrating GMO crops are harmful.

The seeds are patented, they are monopolising the food supply of the world, country by country. If it doesn't worry you, then at least worry for the poor bastards who will come to inhabit this world after us.

Why should I worry about something that has not been proven harmful? What if it is purely beneficial?

Reference the news piece. You do know you were the one who made the statement. Otherwise, it would seem you are just typing out the side of your neck.

GMO does give you benefit, for example the golden rice, it had added vitamins. Hey it only saved 670,000 kids on the first 5 yr of introduction.

The fear of the unknown is what cause this problem, "they are playing god" aka, "its evil"...

The burden of proof is now on the people that think its bad. Im not sure about long term defects yet, because, it needs to be out there for long term. The rice has been out for 10 yrs and no problem yet...

Maybe we should be raising against known poisons hey are legally selling in stores, instead of this "i don't know what the heck it is but it must be bad" crap.

Google is your friend...or not as we have recently found out. There are plenty of studies out there, Do your own homework. Why are GMOs forbidden in most European countries.

I am not here to do your work for you.

Actually, YOU prove up and post some studies telling everyone how genetically modified food is all the rage.

Hey, even a colt 45 with a single chambered round is extremely safe for 5 out of 6 trigger pulls.

You're pretty cavalier with the health of our entire species and biosphere with regard to whether there will be 'long term damage' caused by GMOs aren't you?

It's playing roulette with our entire planet...and that is NOT acceptable...even for 'added vitamins'.

What do you mean you cant afford to eat Healthy? The only thing you are is lazy.

1 pack of carrots? $0.99 - $2.
Apples? $4 a kilo.
Packet of peas and corn $3.49
Broccoli? Various prices
Onions? Cheap as.
Potato? $3 a kilo?
Capsican. Varies in price and colour..

Go to a fruit a vegie place and you will see bargains in everything. Very cheap. You just have to cut them up, cook them, add a little bit of flavour and there's plenty of lovely meals. Through some in a slow cooker and you'll have tons of meals.

Look how cheap these are...

I got about thismuch patience for you but I am gonna go ahead and post some articles. Then YOU go look up the studies...Kay??

Another study finds GMO corn to be highly toxic

A new study has been leaked which examines genetically modified corn and reveals that the crop contains a startling level of toxic chemicals and just isn't as nutritious as natural corn.
The study was reportedly run by Profit Pro and is called the "2012 Corn Comparison Report." It was published recently on the Moms Across America March to Label GMOs website. The group states on their website that they wish to “raise awareness and support Moms with solutions to eat GMO Free as we demand GMO labeling locally and nationally simultaneously.” They are planning on organizing several nationwide marches this year against GMOs

link

The study has been deemed "the most thorough research ever published into the health effects of GM food crops and the herbicide Roundup on rats." News of the horrifying findings is spreading like wildfire across the internet, with even the mainstream media seemingly in shock over the photos of rats with multiple grotesque tumors... tumors so large the rats even had difficulty breathing in some cases. GMOs may be the new thalidomide.

“Monsanto Roundup weedkiller and GM maize implicated in 'shocking' new cancer study” wrote The Grocery, a popular UK publication.

It reported, “Scientists found that rats exposed to even the smallest amounts, developed mammary tumors and severe liver and kidney damage as early as four months in males, and seven months for females.”

There is more, a lot more. I am not doing your homework for you nor am I going to allow you to persuade readers that there is nothing wrong with GMO. I have been dealing with you shills for a decade.
