Chinese farmer jailed for making a rubber alien

First off , I am not sure if this should be posted straight to the hoax forum , so mods please feel free to move.
This is the first i've heard of anyone going to jail for a hoax attempt , but I am not surprised that it happened in China.
Perhaps russia's Sorcha Faal will be next?
Honestly ,however, I believe arresting him for this is rather silly.

Mr Li was forced to admit that he had indeed sought to use his model, held together with chicken wire and glue, to mislead his fellow Chinese about the existence of celestial creatures.

It is Not because it was a Hoax .. . It was because he was Seriously Inducing Panic.

Have you ever heard of The War Of The Worlds? If Not look, it up. It is a good read, And if you can find the Broadcast that aired, a Special treat. That Broadcast is a Prime example of Inducing Panic.

The Chinese Government does Not need a billion Paniced People running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

UFOs and ultimately aliens are taken very seriously in China, so the panic thing sounds about right. I'm sure China has the most UFO groups in the world, something like 50,000 and you need qualifications to be a part of one.

So they've never encountered a major hoaxer before?

This may be a good lesson then, because if they panic over every UFO/Alien claim, then I predict a potential disaster. There are plenty of charlatans about to buy tickets and head over there with wonderful stories and books to sell a nation of believers.

It's the opposite over here, thankfully. Most believers are at least somewhat skeptical, and then there are the skeptics themselves. Very good at being analytical and fact-based. You have to be, really.

I mean...how many times has someone shot Bigfoot and had him stuffed in a cooler this year?

I just hope Godlike Production is off-limits and blocked in China.

There is always the alternative.... Perhaps it was the real deal, too many people became aware of it and the gubbmint had to descredit and prevent him from openly talking about it like he was.

Just to elaborate, I'm sure something equivalent to a science degree to be a part of a UFO group in China.
