I figure that if there are aliens that can or have been in the vicinity of us I am sure they have already heard or will hear the constant nonsense streaming from our mouths, radios, T.V.s and internet.

A new website will allow anyone who wants to send a message into outerspace to do so. The website launches this monday and there seems to be some fear amongst the community that there's a chance we are inviting an invasion.

The site is up but I haven't tried sending anything out so I don't know if it working yet.

You’ll soon be able to send messages into outer space — but some experts are worried about who’s listening, and what they’ll do when they hear you
As for invading, I don't get why people are so worried. They can choose any planet out there, why would they choose one with life on already? I'd like to think that if they have the technology to get here they'd be more interested in treating Earth like a nature reserve than destroying all of us.

I don't mean to sound negative but what are the chances another planet with life and a civilization are close enough and at the same technological stage as us to receive those messages at all.
