This is why it was important not to acquit. Because the state can "turn" the defense witnesses, too. I believe that's what happened here.

FF, I think he's "creepy", too. Something about him doesn't resonate just right.

One thing about the shooting that gets my attention is only one shot was fired. Most people are trained to always fire at least twice(double tap). I doubt the prosecution will make an issue of this and it may even help Zimmerman's case if he can give a good reason why he only fired one shot.

PROSECUTION CROSS EXAMINATION ...

Here it comes .... POLICE POLICY says to put one bullet in the chamber, not civilians - says the prosecutor. The witness agrees. (goes to the cop wanna-be attitude).

Prosecution is again getting uptight and voice is raised and he's frustrated.

Prosecution says there is a difference between what police can do and what citizens can do

(My opinion .. defense made a mistake in calling this fella)

That is bull. Someone with a CCW is allowed to carry a gun with a round chambered with the safety off(if the gun has one). While police chamber a round, they are required to have the safety engaged(though most cops carry Glocks which don't have a safety).

The prosecutor seems clueless to CCW laws, or even basic firearm rules.

DEFENSE REDIRECT ...

Guns for self defense have to be 'ready to fire'. Witness says 'one in the chamber' and then putting a full magazine on top of that is best for self defense for both police and citizens.

Witness says training to shoot is at 'center of mass'. Which Zimmerman did. He shot at the bulk center of Martins body. Concealed weapons permit classes trains to shoot multiple times at bulk center of mass. (zimmerman shot only once .... against training)

Holsters should be comfortable and functional. Zimmerman holster followed state law.

Prosecution just brought up the 'double tap' as standard training.
Zimmerman shot once.
But I don't see why it matters.
Zimmerman was also taught to shoot only if there was a threat.
He must have thought one bullet neutralized the threat.

Who knows why he fired once. One shot was enough, no doubt. If Z was racist who wanted to kill a 'thug' then you would think there would have been may shots fired.

I do not see how only one shot will hurt the defense.

DEFENSE CALLS - Geri Russo ... coworker of Zimmerman
She says she has interacted with him daily. Heard his voice daily.
She's heard him speak in english and spanish. She's heard him laugh.
Defense plays 911 tape. She Identifies the screaming as Zimmermans.

MY NOTE ... the professionals can't identify the voice. Martins family and Zimmermans family and friends are going to identify the voice as their family/friend. They all probably think they are telling the truth. So I think all the ID the Voice thing are not going to convince anyone either way. I think each side is just cancelling the other out .. that kind of thing .. IMHO

Looks like O Mara is going for the "I've got more witnesses who say it's George screaming than you have saying it's Trayvon...ner, ner" defence strategy.

I agree with that. If Zimmerman was hunting down black people then he would have kept his activities secretive and unloaded his clip into Martin, but instead he calmly called the dispatch and told them what was happening and he shot Martin once during/after a tussle.

PROSECUTION REBUTTAL - Geri Russo ... coworker of Zimmerman

The prosecution is now laughing at the witness and using a loud voice. Very obnoxious.
Prosecution - when you heard the voice you WANTED TO BELIEVE it was Zimmerman.
She counters ... no, I heard and recognized the voice screaming as Zimmermans.

MY NOTE ... prosecution is being snotty and frustration is evident.

Vote now ... Livestream quick poll ... whose voice is screaming for help on the 911 tape.
So far .. 60% say Zimmerman ... 20% say Martin ... 20% Don't know

All this character wiitness testimony is fine, but everybody knows somebody who behaves differently in different circumstances and with different people. Ted Bundy is a perfect example.

Fast moving witness list ...

DEFENSE CALLS - Leanne Benjamin. Knows George Zimmerman. Known him since 2002. They met through work. Defense reminds the witness to use the name 'George Zimmerman' instead of George. She tells how they are work and social friends. They spent a lot of time together. She said she was proud of Zimmerman for tutoring young children.

She said it was important for her to offer her support to him and offer her help to him.
Mostly they talked. She and her husband helped him financially. Taken him food.
Bought Zimmerman some clothing.

She 'doesn't believe' that her relationship would effect her opinion about the 911 voice.
(the state will hit that ... she 'doesn't believe' it will ... she wasn't solid)

They play the 911 tape. She ID's it as Zimmerman.

Nice quiet lady. The Prosecution is in a bad mood today. This could get interesting ....

If anything, GZ firing only a single shot goes against the whole "wannabe cop" image, after all, how many times have we heard of a LEO (or group of them) firing a single shot at a perp. They usually empty the mag! And sometimes reload and do it again!

I've just had this scene in my head of George hearing "Not guilty," then letting out a loud excited yell that sounds nothing like the one on the recording.

That's how the defense seemed when they were cross-examining. They wear the same shoes, at different times.

It also goes to prove that he fired consciously and deliberately, and not while he was in genuine fear for his life. If that was the case, all his training instincts would have kicked in and Trayvon would have been riddled with bullets. Face the harsh truth, George shot him once when he didn't have to, just to ensure there was one less witness. He knew the drill about fielding questions and knew he just had to keep a clear head and fit his story to what he already knew and claim anybody else was mistaken.

comparing GZ to bundy is stupid.
there is no trail of bodies where GZ has been, bundy left bodies in his wake.

there also is no testimony, that GM is psychopath.bundy was known to be a psychopathic murdering rapist.

stick to facts.

Firing only one shot could also mean Zimmerman did not want to kill Martin, only stop him from beating him . If he intended to murder TM then you would expect many shots to have been fired.

George doesn't have to be like Bundy for him to have done things that people don't expect from him, and are completely out of his character as they perceive it.
