What if we find out taking extra Vitamins cause you to age and die faster?

Recently, it has been discovered that living near starvation causes you to live longer and age slower. I wonder and actually think that keeping your cells at maximum efficiency actually causes them to reproduce faster and more often, thus age thus you age and die sooner.

When cells are starved they reproduce slower thus causing you to live longer cause your not wearing them out as fast. Cells age each time the replicate themselves.

BEWARE

What do you think?

I'm taking a multimineral tablet every day and it does have a few side effects. I also take a big multivitamin once or twice a week in place of the multimineral. If I don't take them I will get weak though, the prescription meds I took for five years did a little damage to my liver. I have tried a lot of things to try to restore it but I guess I am just stuck with it not being able to make enzymes properly.

If you eat right and have no metabolic problems, a supplement is not usually needed on a daily basis.

Many over the counter vitamins are made by major pharmaceutical companies, and are laden with fillers with no redeeming nutritional value .
As with all things we ingest ,the FDA gives the makers carte blanch to leave many of the ingredients off the label ,so ,you have no way of knowing what's even in them ,to a 100% certainty

Many vitamins are also not the vitamin in its most viable and benefitial forms as well .

Unless you buy high quality vitamins ,from reputable companies ,vitamins are a waste of money .

As for wether or not they are made to accelerate the aging process ,that's anyone guess ,but most medication out on the market by major pharm companies is made to kill us ,or so it seems,I would venture a guess ,some vitamin brands, are best avoided.

Have you tried an herbal liver tonifyer ?
Also drinking kombucha tea is good for the liver . It's purges it of toxins ,and function improves.
I think kefir does the same, but it is dairy ,so some people do not handle it as well .

I've never taken any pills, including aspirin and I've never been sick or distraught in my life. Sun & faith is all I need
I'm not saying they don't help tho just not for me.

For years I adhered to the medical wisdom that taking extra vitamin D and B6, B12 was a bogus waste of money, attention and that you ended up urinating most of it away anyway. A sad result of promotional and scare campaigns by unscrupulous marketeers in a pseudo-science aftermarket.

As an experiment, I began daily to take 10,000 IU of Vitamin D and about 1000% of the B components RDA, about 3 months ago.

Geez, everything improved, my skin, my hair, my workouts, my sense of well being - and I tracked this on a spreadsheet. No placebo effect, it was real. I will not listen to the intelligentsia on these matters again. Instead I will find out for myself.

Sometimes, we have to understand that much of the 'authoritative' wisdom is so much bunk as well. Just because one denies, does not mean one is more credible than one who propones.

Since my goal is to die healthy, I'll be sure to load up every day. Who really wants to be deathly ill when their time comes?

I am allergic to dairy, I did try Keefer though but didn't care for the taste. I had some results with Milk Thistle but it was making my liver jerk in back and my kidneys were hurting a little after taking it for three weeks. My liver was about a quarter calcified. I guess it does that temporarily so it doesn't die, it is possible it could regenerate.

I would try kombucha tea . The best brand in the USA is SYNERGY brand .
They have a website. You should drink it daily ,and no there is not large amts of alcohol in it,as the FDA would have us believe .
I would start small ,and work my way up . Like an ounce, twice a day for a week ,then two ounces, and so forth .
I drink a glass a day .

It sounds like you are very sensitive .
There are numerous Chinese herbal liver formulas that can help you though .
Also high fructose corn syrup is a liver killer. It causes fatty liver. You should eliminate hfcs from you diet .
Check all labels for it .
This includes stuff like ketchup ,sweet pickles ,canned fruit . Packaged mixes and cereals .Ite in everything .

Hfcs is what's making us all sick and obese ,not sugar. It's toxic to liver long term .

Excellent tests onequestion! I enjoy Bragg's with the Mother, diluted in water right after my daily workout. Well 'enjoy' is matter of expression. I have had cheap whiskeys go down smoother than Bragg's. LOL!!

My doctor has diagnosed moderate to severe wheat, dairy and corn allergies as well, so I am examining replacing these grains with flax, chia, hemp and quinoa seeds.

Appreciate the link

I make a tea with braggs and honey . My mom used to do honey and apple cider vinegar ,back in the 70s .
I grew up with it . I discovered braggs at my local health food store about a year ago . It's amazing stuff .

No you are right they are mostly taking garbage in the vast majority of instances that creates new problems to cover up the old ones.

I just try to eat the right food types to get what I need to live healthy.
And like you I haven't had anything major illness wise, just some food poisoning cases (fast food is the devil) and dealing with injuries obtained through my own stupidity.

Vitamins can be very good for us ,but you must buy kinds with no fillers and added garbage .
Any bottled vitamin that has a label that bears the name of a major pharmaceutical company ,must be avoided at all costs .

I use vitamin research products company ,and standard process .
They are high quality and completely pure .

Actually in the vast majority of instances it does NOT cause new problems.
I've looked up the rate of side effects for many things.

Go ahead...believe things based on no evidence if you'd like. But I KNOW you are pulling things out of your ass.

to the person who spelled it "benefitial."
Sorry but store bought Vitamin B and D are just as effective(and i do believe they are much more beneficial than let on). Sorry, the FDA isn't out to get you, at least in this case. They actually ensure that the product you buy is exactly as labeled.
You don't need to buy the super expensive brands.

Who should you believe? Me or the guy who can't spell "benefitial"?
go ahead and buy the super expensive brands if you must, but I'm only trying to save you money.

I do not own a car, bicycle everywhere (currently ~4500 mile/year), & practice acrobatics (tightrope/juggling), & I believe I get the vitamins I need from the foods I eat.

Fasting does in fact promote longevity. & not to mention that the mind must use a lot of energy to digest certain foods.

The body is a extremely fine-tuned "machine". The less "moving parts" you have within it, the more efficient it can run.

Please a little better reading comprehension.

Note the person I replied to said "Aspirin", I responded with a generalized statement that can apply to any pill or whatever fad with the characterization of "garbage".

Do you want to show us the rate of side effects with Aspirin?
Can you show us how safe it is? Can I eat 10 of them in 24 hours without any problems?

Notice what I had said was highly subjective in nature, and indeed heavily over-generalized.
