Transparency and Open Government

Memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies

SUBJECT: Transparency and Open Government

"My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.

Government should be transparent. Transparency promotes accountability and provides information for citizens about what their Government is doing. Information maintained by the Federal Government is a national asset. My Administration will take appropriate action, consistent with law and policy, to disclose information rapidly in forms that the public can readily find and use. Executive departments and agencies should harness new technologies to put information about their operations and decisions online and readily available to the public. Executive departments and agencies should also solicit public feedback to identify information of greatest use to the public."

Hey, I voted for the guy and I still agree with you. The "transparency" thing became a joke.

Yeah, I know. We have been had again. Sucks.

You know what is even worse than that? Collectively between Obama and Romney they spent 2 billion dollars. 2 billion dollars on an election that is determined by non-verifiable voting machines and tabulators.

This is a train wreck. No way could an honest candidate participate without the backing of big money. And you know what that means.

Maybe you should read a newspaper.

The current administration is so transparent, it has become invisible.

The government is right in front of everyone, pulling all kinds of shenanigans, but no one can see what it is doing because it is so transparent, you can't even see it anymore.

See this is why I dropped out of the two party shill game a long time ago. Every time it's Blah, blah, hope, blah and it's all lies.

Though I followed the last election with some interest it was obvious that the choices were 1) horrible and 2) diabolical. Perhaps if Ron Paul would have had a snowballs chance it would have been worth voting.

The US political system is totally broken. We have the blueprints to fix it though. Get rid of this corrupt government and rebuild a new one using the Constitution and Bill of Rights. In 200 years we may have to do it again but that's quite a while from now.

They're about as transparent as a dog turd on a shiny new kitchen floor. Some in the administration are getting to be about as unwelcome too, it would seem. I wonder what comes first. Resignations from Cabinet people to make a new wave of people serving or a Special Prosecutor to make Ken Starr look like a rookie?

This is getting interesting.

Okay, I'm all set. I'm betting Holder is the first to 'choose to resign'. Just my hunch after seeing some Democrats in congress timidly suggest today that he may want to consider it.

Well, I don't think we will see that happen with respect to Holder. They are too arrogant. I could be wrong. Even if it did come down to that it would just be cosmetic. No real change. Just my buck fifty.

Agreed, arrogance is their watchword. Cosmetically though saw an article today where Holder said he may step down (eventually) as he's getting tired. Sorry, don't have the source it was a sub-link off an article on linked on Drudge.

Oh I agree with the fact changes will be cosmetic. This whole ball of wax to form with the combined scandals may very well bring a Special Prosecutor. It's been enough years I imagine so that a good % don't recall seeing one on a full tear or weren't around to see Starr at all. Oh this should get wild if that does come to pass. That's the stage I think a surprising set of people may become expendable for throwing under that proverbial bus to save the top guy. The very top people have gone down before to politically save a President.

A Special Prosecutor with a grudge against U.S. Intelligence would also make for a show beyond what even the 70's Church and Pike Committees became for castrating the CIA for a good number of years.

We just need to get OUT of the wars and real quickly if that's the direction it takes. That isn't a spectator sport while troops are in the field and tactics related to their safety are the meat of the meal for the whole thing happening, IMO.

This isn't dated. Is this from the last day or two or old? Sorry. Maybe I'm missing it. It would be nice if this were a new assertion and we saw action on this.

I don't think you will see a special prosecutor like we did back in the Clinton days. If there would have ever been reason it would have been taking this country to war on a bunch of lies. Pelosi told everyone loud and clear that wasn't ever gonna be on the table. We were all supposed to "move forward". Here is the thing, you get lip service from your representative and your Senator.

This state's senator is Feinstein and she is the chair of the Intelligence Committee in the Senate. She is so connected and powerful it is not even funny. And one of the Constitutions greatest enemies.

You are talking about Mafia dons.

No. You will never see that again. I could be wrong. But I don't think so.
