www.time.com...

Its strange how the American edition doesn't have Guantanamo cover...
despite Guantanamo being an American issue.

I guess the media works in its own mysterious ways.

I would like to know what "Chicago bull" means. But I agree it is weird different cover for the U.S and the other countries. Of course I'm skeptical of the information shared in the mainstream media. Because you can never get the truth out of them.

Magazines publish different covers all the time for every region of the world.

I bet if you looked hard enough you could find the so called foreign cover here in the states.

You're making an issue where there is none. You just don't know how that stuff works.

Which cover do you think Obama liked more?

Don't forget his campaign promise that he made years ago to close Gitmo. The media get their marching orders.

Magazines publish different covers all the time for every region of the world.

Except in this instance, pretty much the rest of the world....Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia and the South Pacific all get the same cover on a particular issue.

As we can see on the TIME website, whenever other regions get a different cover, it is usually to do with an issue that pertains to that region. In this case, an American issue is made the front cover story for everybody else... except America.

TIME Magazine wants sales. They are going to lose sales in America when they bash America. It's not exactly rocket science why they opted for a different cover.

"Chicago Bull" - The cover features the Mayor of Chicago, and with all of the problems that the city is facing, he's trying to fight off the critics who are 'mad' at him.

But, yeah. I've seen this before with TIME magazine covers. I forget what the subject was though... Hmm...

The other story is featured on the U.S. cover - it's just not the main theme.

Good post though. The media is strange indeed.

(I'm trying to figure out what the other one was...)

YES!

The one I was thinking of was the 'Protest' covers v.s. the Anxiety cover in the U.S.

Thanks for that.
Haha.

Very old news. TIME does it all the time in the USA,because Americans must be coddled ,and reality upsets them .
More like the govt makes sure Americans never know what's really going on .

Star and Flag to the OP.
And excellent find grobi77.

Time is selling their magazines and making money by changing the cover depending on the audience. If people in the USA could see what was on the TIME covers overseas, there probably would be boycotts of the magazine in the USA.

I wish the MSM would discuss this .... it deserves more attention.

Oh .. and I think this belongs on the main conspiracy Above Top Secret boards rather than down in general chit chat. This is a subject worthy of a 'bump up' to the main boards .... IMHO.

Time always does this. America gets the watered down/censored version while the world gets the other. This is why you shouldn't read Time.

Do you see the pattern? In The USA the topics are trivial and in the grand scheme of things unimportant...brain candy. But those in the rest of the world they discuss important issues that have a real impact on you day to day lives. Funny how they bypass those issues.

That's quite a collection, thanks for posting it. Each and every one of those stories that "the world" gets to see highlighted on the cover seem like very important information. Americans get to see fluff on their "news"stands in the grocery aisle, right next to the tabloids and women's make-up magazines. You'd think the staff at Time would be complaining about this, especially the reporters who write the more serious stories given to the rest of the world. This is further proof that the msm in the U.S. hides data from the public on a daily basis.

I don't know if any journalists will read this thread, but it's an eye-opener for those still walking around 'Eyes Wide Shut'.

Do you really think TIME cares if we are upset? No, they do it for the same reason as a company does anything, to maximize profits, and you don't do that when you take your readership to task.....

I think it was a typo. They meant "jackass".

Now that I have been thoroughly schooled on ATS' rules, I too would like to participate in the name calling of public figures. Thank you.

Yes,and if you upset them, they don't buy the issue ,so the sweet pretty version of reality must be on the cover .
