I Really Have A Knack For The Ladies...

Actually, I have a couple with crushes on me because of my singing, but one has a challenging ex-husband situation, and the other is older, kinda plain, but cool all the same, and plays piano, so I could have a real accompanist and not steal recordings off the internet and worry about Youtube copyright infringement.

I should probably clean up my house and my personal habits, however, before I invite either of them over, even for just a drink...

Not my usual style to sing, but in the 16th and early 17th centuries, this was like the top 40.

That's why I decided to get really drunk on rum and ham it up in a GD shirt.

This was the first take with no practice or score; just the words on the internet (and the "stolen" recorder ensemble recording), and I had not sung the song since 1989.

Had a bit of a bender last night, and really did it for Laura (the one with the ex-husband situation and two kids in his custody).

Try to smoke mainly pipe, but notice how I took a fake, non-inhaled puff off of that American Spirit Organic at the beginning of the video, didn't touch it during the song, then took a drag that damn near killed me at the end!

I tried to make it look easy, almost like bull#, but it wasn't easy to do even that well on one take with no practice or even warmup on a song I hadn't sung in 24 years...

Oh yes; and all the rum coffees with (shudder) Bacardi White Label...

WOW...I'm at a loss for words...hmmm...did you post this on youtube for all to see??? Did you show it to your lady friend yet? If so what did she say? S & F for your courage in putting this out there....

Interesting little ditty there. You have bigger cajones than me, as I would not put myself singing on the net. Someone might hear it and spontaneously combust from the awfulness that emanates from my guttural noises.

Hundreds of people spontaneously combust every year, it's just not widely reported.I'll throw in a Spinal Tap joke any time I can, as they are such good ones. Anyway.....

I may sing like a drunken sailor but I know the song Smoke On THe Water backwards, forwards, sideways, any way you can think of being the Deep Purple fanatic I've been for thirty years so I will admit to thrashing that one a few times at open mikes and , shudder, karaoke. I'll even do a two fer and play the drums(mostly badly, but not always) AND sing the bloody song. I would not let anyone film me attempting to sing anything though, that's just cruel and unusual punishment for those that happen to hear it and if it's on the net there might be people combusting all over the world and I'd feel almost guilty for that.

FWIW, though, I thought that was pretty cool. Not the type of tune I was expecting, though to be honest I'm not sure what I was expecting. Uriah Heep, maybe? Meh, no one knows not even myself.

She loves it (Laura, that is), and by now knows a relationship would be a bit awkward, but we chat on Facebook, and if she makes it back to my neck of the woods, we might have dinner or something.

I'm a serious musician, but one of my "idioms" is to sing classical in that 1990 Dead shirt in a BS manner!

I'm going to bump this myself just to thank anyone who looked at that strange Dowland video, and helped give me my first viral (for me, at least) video on Youtube. Over 200 views in a bit over a week, and I think it will go up since it's the weekend and the count might not have been updated yet.

Not sure I want it to become a real viral video for me due to its nature, even though it is funny, but it was cool watching those views shoot up so fast, and pass my previously most popular video which has been up since last Fall.

I guess I would most like my Dead covers with my brother to do better, but Youtube is saturated with Dead covers, and videos that are kind of strange tend to do the best, as we all know. Actually, seems like to me it's only the ones that are downright silly that get into the hundreds of thousands of views, at least among homemade videos.
