Wow, that is crazy. Can someoe please embed the photo OP mentions? I would but I'm on mobile, if no one does I will shortly.

What bothers me is the discourse for humanity being shown? Why don't the riot police just, stop? That's the right thing to do, yes? Goes to show how incredible the "just following orders" mentality is. Indoctrinating people in order to get them to fight against their brothers and sisters because their boss told them to.

In Nazi Germany, soldiers were just following orders and citizens were just following laws. We, as a species, seem to suffer from collective amnesia.

We learn from history that we don't learn from history?

Do you happen to know if the firefighters are unionized or not? I dont know what the system is like in Spain but that might paint a clearer picture.

...what's happening in this world..

Notice that the "protests" or riots that occur in the EU are divided?
One month its students protesting a rise in fees, then its union pensioners rioting about their retirement, then city workers are laid off, then Firemen.

The people behind the Scenes in the EU are paying for the massive bailouts by squeezing the population, verrry carefully. They inflict a little bit of "Austerity" here, then there, then over there. That way only small segments of society are feeling the pain at any one time.

They want to squeeze more blood from everyone but do it a little bit at a time so they can control any potential blow back. People living in the US, take note.

What you are seeing over there is a prelim to the same thing happening here. It already is in fact. First they took our jobs, then our savings, then homes... see where this is leading?

The sad thing about it is that even though they carefully target a different segment of the population so as to keep the people guessing and controllable, eventually there will be nothing left to take. Finally when the people are hungry enough they will all spill into the street at once and force the issue. Until then its divide and conquer, and the rest of us will continue to do nothing and say, better them than me.

How about a video?

You don't mess with firefighters......They are truly the only public service people's lives depend on and there is nothing bad you can say about them.

The Rat.

Edit to add: Hey....I wonder who is going to put that fire out lol!

Thanks to the two posters who embedded the pictures and videos.

FIREMEN have always been heroes in my eyes...now they are fighting the cops. They have too much power and will not let it go, in Spain or here! Maybe some will see the light if it ever gets this bad here!

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out--
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me--and there was no one left to speak for me.

One of the things governments should realize is that you don't piss-off the people whose job it is to save your life in case of an emergency.

Unreal.

One question, after the police get their [back ends] kicked by the firefighters, who are they going to call to haul their sorry butts to the hospital?

Oh well......I guess the firemen will be showing up in their fire engines next time.....I'm gonna wash that cop right out of the street...

I see nothing as dramatic as the title suggests!

The people in the meditteranean areas are all really into protests- they are always going on. Especially government employees- the joke is that they are paid to protest (which is literally true, in fact, as ones wages are guaranteed during any protest).

What is ironic is that it is exactly the government employees that have the best pay and most cushy situations!
I know firsthand, as I am one (in southern France). Seriously folks, you have no idea. A lot of us wouldn't go on protest because that is just shameful. There is an airplane reserved for government employees that want to partake in free flying lessons... we get bonuses on top of bonuses.. we retire early than anyone in the private sector... have long paid vacations, and can get trips for hardly nothing. Our job is guaranteed for life. we can be moved to another position or location, but never fired.

Nonetheless, try to cut down a tiny bit any of these, and suddenly they go out on the street and burn things (or dump garbage, or stop all transport, or whatever).

If their situation was anywhere near those of the private sector, I would be sympathetic. But I have been part of both (had my own business before too) and my conscience wouldn't let me take part in this sort of thing.

Maybe starting fires in public is against the law in Spain?

If you have a group of people starting fires in public shouldn't the police be called out to deal with it or should they be allowed to burn whatever they want wherever they want?

Maybe in France but I'm not sure about other European countries.

Nah..Firefighters don't matter. If a building burns down, then there's opportunity to rebuild. Jobs are created. Firefighters prevent new jobs and new work by preventing the destruction that would normally provide new opportunities. Cut firefighter services. They do less good for the economy that you think.
