Only if my boy. Spiritual enlightenment is real. Anyone who takes mediation serious for about a month or so will understand it's effects and come to know the reality of the self and how powerful it really is.

DBZ though? haha nah.. I wish, I wish.

Nonsense. Been meditating for decades now, and I threw away the spiritual dogma away a long time ago. You don't have to believe in spiritual ideologies whatsoever to explore meditation and it's effects.

I may have misunderstood when I made this comment. If so, apologies.

I never really watched DragonBall Z because I always felt like I was moments away from a seizure and never anywhere close to meditation with the fast clips, crazy action and stilted fast dialogue.

But I get your point and this a well known phenomenon in Anime, I loved AKIRA and anything by Katsuhiro Otomo.

I have often wondered about if humans generate fields and if those fields can be controlled but I have never seen enough proof.

Reason Dragon-ball series, ESPECIALLY DBZ is famous among the west is because, it sorta introduced anime, even tho it wasn't a Japanese mainstream, but it did.

They were many before, but it never held much audience as DBZ did.

And most importantly we would have to have generation after generation practicing those skill, so if future generations just focus on letting robots and machines do everything for them...then how are we suppose to learn those techniques if we never practice them?

you may be right, i have also thought about things like this. what if the human race does posses some sort of power that we dont know of and when we are born, we are given all these shots to keep us from reaching our full potenial, or from accessing this power at all.

or ages ago we possesed some kind of power and the elite knew with us containing this power they will never be able to have control like they want, so over the years they put chemicals in our food, water etc... that blocks out this power. therefore making us powerless and helpless.

I truly think your onto something OP. This guy here in this video almost had it, not sure if he went through any type of meditation or chi manipulation but he came pretty close to super saiyan.

Excellent thread, S and F!

I have wondered the same thing for a very long time.. is it possible to reproduce the effects of DBZ? Certainly not to their extent! If someone becomes powerful enough to destroy an entire city with two fingers then I'm moving to Mars! But if you want to figure out connections between DBZ and reality, you'd have to look into Journey to the West. The inspiration to Dragonball and Goku's amazing adventures.

You might want to also research a bit about chi and how some in martial arts claims to be able to harness it. Although I'm not a complete skeptic on chi, I have doubts as to those who claim to be able to channel it in fighting, as in Dim Mak. Most of the cases I've seen where people tried to prove it to others, it was debunked, and it seems in all of those cases, chi only affects those who believe in it.

Chi in Chinese arts or ki in Japanese arts. Lots of exposure to the concept. From what I can tell is that it's more of a cultural idea. It's a way to explain things. Ki is essentially energy or life force. The word for Sick is Byoki or bad ki. In martial arts you control your ki which comes from your center and direct your opponents ki. Translation: keep your balance while you take the other guys balance. It's one of those words that's used for everything like momentum, endurance, moving, standing still, intention...the force.

It's really just visualizing that you have some energy rays coming out of you. So it's a good psychological way to overcome your self imposed limitations. In its extreme misunderstanding, yes, people think they have superpowers and may have followers that think they do also and then it will only effect those that believe in it. Not me. That's for sure. I have seen some really goofy stuff out there.

Of course you don't. You do have to meditate to understand though. Whatever ideology you choose for it to be is what it shall become. it doesn't have to be what I say. It's some people out there that are Christian and meditate in the name of God. There are those of the Craft that meditate. Those you practice Tai'Chi as well. Those ideologies are all different, yet they don't take away from what meditation really is.

I wasn't trying to force any kind of ideology at all.

But if you have the idea of chi balls and such like street fighter and DBZ utilize in their storytelling then you are missing the point of what chi is.

I have chi balls and they are not pretty.

For those who never/do not believe in Qi Qong. Everyone has Qi. It takes patience and practice. This is just a small demo of Qi Qong

Ah, yeah. Someone showed me in one minute how to take a full on kick to my chi balls. Of course he knew how to kick me so that it looked real impressive. Tricks are tricks.

We practice them now. Our kids would be better than us but that's the same for everything. Anyways if you are on this site and your looking into the gray area of ATS then you are probably more open minded than 85% of people. If you're willing to look outside of society than you might already have the diehard attitude to obtain these powers. Many people will live meaningless lives working for the system and then allowing robots to think for them don't become them. Even in DBZ there were more people than fighters right? That's the point of me posting this what do you all think?

Dragon ball is based on the stories of the Monkey King and his journey.
And no it's not real and whoever posted about Chi Qong is having a laugh I hope!

I believe it's possible. Chi is energy. Energy can be manipulated. I think we're still pretty far off from being able to destroy a planet with a massive ball of energy. S&F. Love this topic.

Don't let these people tell you it's not possible. However it is important to note that even if you are able to fire a chi blast some day, it won't have a color or shape, Akira Toriyama mentioned the reason why the blasts in DBZ have color is so people can see them more clearly.

A good place to start if you're trying to open your Kundalini and practice manipulating Chi is Reiki. It's an ancient healing art and reminds me of Senzu beans.

I've been a martial artist for over twenty years and understand why Ki/Qui is by most people so misunderstood, it's not a magical field of energy, it's a teaching aid used to focus the mind and that's all it is.
I've never seen anyone even remotely demonstrate it or even come close to firing "balls" of energy!!
