I'm going to go see it and don't care what anyone says or thinks about that.

That said, I don't have too high expectations after the Phantom Menace.

All I care about is how they manage to captivate me with a new story continuing along the path of the old one I hold dear without managing to completely screw it up enough for me to hate it.

I actually think the same could be said for the new superman movie - Now that's beating a dead horse. Lets retell how he came to earth - just newer.

Ugh.

Thought it would be great if they could some how bring earth into the new movies. Imagine the dark side travelling though space and discover us here on earth. They would think, wow we could of beaten the rebels by lieing and deceiving them. Imagine old Darth throwing in a false flag. Aghh. The imagine runs wild.

Yeah, its not official that any of the original cast will return. J.J. "Lens Flare" Abrams is directing. Some other fools are writing.. They plan on doing an episode every two years or so with another movie in between(bounty hunters I hope? Or do I.)

I expect lots of lens flares and fails. Lots of fails.

Not to mention Lucas stated that the expanded universe isn't canon now. So its anyone's guess where it will go.

Probably straight to sh!tsville like the prequels..

Look at the bright side....Maybe Skywalker will produce a light saber from his walker or Leah from her wheel chair, this late in life. We'll then get to see once and for all, what the TSA imagine they may find in roughing up our elderly on a regular basis. Surely, they have to have one hidden somewhere. The ways of the Jedi, after all, even geriatric ones.

Maybe the hoverround will actually be a Hoverround.

I really hope they improve on the last 3 episodes. Because let's be honest, who honestly enjoyed the last 3 films? Sure, they have some good action scenes, and cgi, but cmon'. Jar Jar raped the series. Seriously raped it to hell. Then what did Lucas add on to his 10 year acid trip?

Talking robots that appear to be "cute" to appeal the family demographic. What a bunch of BS! Everything is about money nowadays.

My favorite movie will always be Empire because it's not like the last 3 films where it's some cheesy horrible family get together movie where they have to tone it down. Even if you took Empire away from the series it would still be one of the best films of all time.

I don't want to be negative about the next film, but seeing some old geezers running around a set coming back from drug addictions while Lucas takes yet, more acid and rapes the series, doesn't really appeal to me.

This is a big money grab and I'll probably fall for it. Because let's be honest, people are still going to mass in hordes to see the movie even though the last 3 episodes were HORRIBLE.

Well anyway let the flaming begin.

Well, who would have thought the New Republic has an old folks home? This isn't just over playing a franchise, IMO...it's beating a dead horse into unrecognizable mush in pursuit of something even I've lost all sight of.

Maybe Lucas can show the world what made him so famous to begin with and think up an original story for the modern times...instead of retreading a 1970's/80's tale so badly it looks like a tire about to blowout.

I'll always like the first 3...as in, order of theatrical release, first 3.

It is a continuation of a story that countless fans have fallen in love with.
The only qualms I have is that Disney is making them, but they have made some pretty good adult themed movies. Have you seen John Carter?

Yeah well now you get to see Superman with better technological advances in the movie making process, plus it is one of a bunch of movies to be re-invented for the purposes of the future Justice League movie.

I blame lucas for 70% and hayden christensen for 30% of how bad the latest films were.
hayden is like kianu on sleeping pills he just cant act period. hence 10 years later where is he ?

I really hope they can pull this of and restore some amazement to the films.
less involvement by lucas and Christopher nolen should direct one film that would be epic

Star Wars has 9 parts. Its a trilogy of trilogies. Parts 7, 8, and 9 are original stories. How is completing the original story "something something mush"ing it?

I think it will be funny with Luke as the fat, drunk Jedi uncle to Han and Leia's children. He'd say "use the force..." right before passing out in a drunken stupor.

It is, it has been confirmed in print. EW is where I saw it last.

Thing is, Disney may have taken over, but Kathleen Kennedy is still helming, and she's been with Lucas and Speilberg since the beginning of their careers pretty much, so it isn't like all the originals have flown the coup. Indeed, Kennedy's involvement is likely why the originals signed on.

I doubt the original cast will have much more in the way of roles other than parents of the new stars of the new films. At least, I hope this is the route they take. Ideally, I would have preferred to see a Thrawn trilogy, but the actors are too old for it. (much better story though, even than Lucas' original one). Luke and Leia's kids though, along with the alien Youzhan Vong race, could make for a good franchise of movies.

I dont believe the age of the actors has anything to do with it. It will fit perfectly, actually.
I can't see them doing any large leaps and bounds with action scenes.

I can't help being excited about seeing the characters I love on the big screen again. I can't help it, I'm a fan!

For all of you suffering from extreme cases of what I like to call Episode One Disorder, lighten up, they are just movies in the end. Besides, episode 7 is being written by the guy who wrote Toy Story 3, that was a great movie, and JJ Abrahms is directing, after what he did with Star Trek, I'd say he's up to the task.

Stop whining and moaning so much!

ETA: I hope they do a really crappy movie about Boba Fett. Boba Fett has always and will always suck, I don't care how awesome his armor is, he sucks. Screw Boba Fett.

Yep, he was defeated by a cuffed and blind-folded Han Solo, don't forget that.
