I understand where your coming from and what your saying. Having gotten over depression myself I can see how everything I did when I was depressed was
likely just to make me more depressed, and going the other direction was almost impossible.
But why does there have to be a 'they' involved?
Society is what it is. Blaming other people for your problems, be it parents, culture or governments, is part of the problem of depression. I'm not
saying you're doing that, btw.
I believe some people are in a weak state of mind (they can change that though), they will seek help from others rather than helping themselves, and
big business sees this, and pretends they have the answer to make them happy. Be it with alcohol, cigarettes, TV, fast food, sex - anything that stops
people having to think for themselves. So they make money - that's how it works.
It's the individuals responsibility to see through it all.
This isn't an ideal world right now, but if everyone held a philosophy of personal sovereignty, we could all take one step closer.
