You can go back to the 50s, and an explosion will always look huge. Even at night.

That would require an explosion though. My guess is that testing would not be full scale overland.

A missile has to be propelled some how. There is going to be some fuel involved in the collision, so you can expect an explosion.

the jet keeps on its course so im not even sure it even knows there is an orb there. it does not change course the entire time. the taper was able to zoom in on the orb... and the plane seemed higher in altitude.
the other one seemed to be a hovering ufo that was impacted by something else flying into it. to far and not clear enough to make out any clear detail to be definite as to what was going on. the hovering object did display red and green strobing lights and the other one did come in like a conventional missile

You can clearly see a large explosion when the two missiles collide. The video in the OP showed nothing like that.

I think it does @ 1.21 on the video , clearly an explosion just seen from a greater distance .
