Question about stars

My wife joined ATS the other day and I responded to one of her posts, and I noticed when I went to star it, I cannot, it will not let me. Is this because we use the same browser on ATS?(or ISP) I am just curious is this is a problem on my end or if ATS is set up this way. I guess I could see it being like that for people who make multiple accounts so they don't go starring themselves...but dang..I really wanted to give her a star.

Just give her threads a bump from time to time and she'll get some stars. It's fun to have someone you enjoy hanging out with posting on ATS too!

That is kind of what I was thinking. Just wanted to make sure that is what it was and not a problem with the browser.

If you're working from the same computer I guess you can't star her.

BUT!

You CAN pick up a pack of these and stick one by the computer for her.



It's cute. It shows you love her. Well, unless she's like my ex and will think you're treating her like a child.

I think I will draw up a big star and put it next to the computer...

It's the same for my husband and I. To the outside world, we share the same IP address, even though we are two very different people and work on different machines.

Others have asked this question before. I'm pretty sure it's because you both use the same IP address but I can't find the thread I read to be sure. How about giving her a big kiss instead? I would rather my hubby give me a smooch than a star anytime!

Starring is an account function, so it would not be limited by IP I don't think.

Usually if you are unable to star a post, it's because it's been starred once before by your account. I've done it accidentally a bunch of times and wondered why I could not star it afterwards.

Quick test to confirm.

Please find another of her posts, and attempt to star it, if you cannot, try it for a few other posts you know you haven't starred ( like one with 0 stars) and get back to me .

As far as I know (to confirm) you can't star the same post from the same IP - even if it's different user accounts.

It is ok though, I kind of took Jigger's suggestion, modified it a little bit, and made her a star and hung it on the wall above the computer

I fully understand why this is this way, I just never ran into it before

9 years off and on here and I am still finding things out. I just figured out the other day that there is a link at the bottom of the pages to bring me back to the top. *face palm*

That is pretty good though, still finding things I never noticed around here....to me that is awesome.
