hello there! and welcome. I guess I just have to get this off of my chest. I have seen a lot of other posts about this on this site, and still have not come up with an answer as of yet.
so what I want to do, is collectively use this rant, to find a solution. I believe this site to have some very intelligent folks out there. I alas, do not feel like one of them, but here it goes.

it really gets my goat that to be a civil servant is now a life choice. where else can you go, work for 4 yrs, and get paid for the rest of your life. I feel that the politicians should follow the same rules that are imposed upon us. what makes them so superior to us?? do they not put on there pants the same as we do?? the politicians are supposed to be in office for our best interest, not for selfish agendas.

the government is getting too big, and too corrupt to control by "we the people". so what are we to do? how do we fix it? I can only wish I had the answer. sure people say make it count during the election. all said and good as long as the election is up and up with things. yes I suppose that they could be rigged.. but now I am classified a conspiracy theorist. and ostracized for my beliefs.

I have to watch what I say now, for fear of offending somebody else, or I am labeled a racist or worse.
I am truly sorry, and feel for the young boys and girls who are going to inherit this mess.

so the question is what can we do?? a revolution is not the answer. is there not enough bloodshed of our young men and women already?? and as we have talked as intellectuals on here already, it would be an outright bloodbath. no if ands or buts about it.. I am a proud veteran of this country, and have taken an oath to protect and defend...every time I go to the V.A. you can see it in the veterans eyes, not just one,, but all vets there,, almost a look of defeat. is this really what we are to do?? admit defeat? turn our guns in,, and say yes sir, please do not harm me. I will obey.
then I have to ask, then what?? if we are to be a complacent people, who will stop the government?
I am all for the world peace thing. but there has to be somebody controlling that as well, what happens when they get too big for there britches, and cant take a whooping to get them back in line?

we have all felt the patriotic songs inside of us, when they play, and it makes me so proud. not anymore. usually I cry when I hear lee greenwoods " I'm proud to be an American" I guess its because I am not proud anymore,, I almost feel ashamed...

I know I will probly get flamed for this post, and that's ok.. I am a big boy, and can handle it. this is my 1st post on here, and I feel a pretty large one. I am by no means a scholar, or intellectual, just a beat up old vet who has lost the twinkle in my eye. so lets hear it ats'ers what do or can we do now? thanks for listening!

I think it's far too late to fix our current system.
It is all going to fall apart regardless of our efforts. I think the corruption, beaurocracy, and political correctness has reached a critical mass. If anything I may be underestimating the situation.

But I see no respite on the horizon, things will not improve until the infection has run its course, then maybe we can build something new that will work for a while.

But the corruption will be back, it seems to me to be a repeating cycle that we keep failing to learn from.
Maybe I'm just jaded and cynical. I don't know.
I just don't see a way to fix it at this point.

I agree with that, I feel that you are not being cynical at all. it is just that we, as a people, have been raised to be competitive, to not just give up and accept defeat. that is what this feel like. and to see all of my fellow vets faces when I go there,, it is very chilling. and sad.

thanks for your post!

Please bare in mind that some of these people *NOT ALL OR EVEN CLOSE TO A MAJORITY* could earn considerably more in the private sector, there has to be some perks or the best people for the job would get other jobs!

Imagine paying everyone in the civil services only for they actually do, we would have a country run by minimum wage, no benifit um... how to put this delicately... idiots. Dont say we have that now, it would be alot worse and you all know it!

Thanks for your post! I am a firm believer in job perks. I am not a believer of raping the people, and giving yourself a free ride at the taxpayers expense.

i also believe that the laws they make for us, should be followed to the highest degree by them. Ifyou are in a position of title or power, you should lead by example, and to a higher standard than the people. show us that you appretiate your constituents, and respect there choice to put you into office!

I feel you!
Nice rant!
There are no answers right now...I don't think...well, at least I have none.
I'm just trying to survive day by day.

I am a vet too, and at times feel ashamed. But with a great circle of friends, I am regaining faith that the future does not have to be bad. We can change how we view the world.

Be the change you want to see.

Blessings Thunder

Thanks for your kind words star, I know in my heart that there are a lot of really great people out there! Not only vets, but in the civilian community as well. This has always bugged me for the past ten years or so, and it is a hard pill to swallow, knowing that you have fewer choices every day.

I'm not sure if when you refer to "politicians" you are referring to local, State or Federal, but with rare exceptions, serving 4 years definitely does not get you paid for the rest of your life (president, etc being that rare exception). Representatives and Senators are federal employees and, depending on when they entered government service, they are under the same retirement plan as the rest of federal employees. Nothing spectacular (believe me).

It is to late to avoid the 400% inflation coming because the dollar supply has increased 400% since Nov2008. At 50% inflation, the middle class is broke and the host is dead. Fix voting, gov't schools, socialism, humanism, Wahussington, Europe and survive what nature will throw at us and the US will still crash and burn. I suggest buying some farmland and start raising goats and vegetables, stock up on canned food, ammo, friends and Bibles (the only thing stronger than what's coming is Jesus).

only option at this point - kick the table over and rebuild better ... wont happen people too complacent and too scared to act .. best option find someplace far from the insanity and watch it all burn as it will come to a point where everything will collapse ..

a revolution is not the answer.

It may not be the answer you like (who does?), but so far it has been the only answer.

Don't be too sure about the people. How many revolutions have occurred in just the last five years (and still going on) around the globe?

I'm sure raising more awareness to everyone is the answer. Though it may be hard for some to cope with the truth. People are just going have to bite the bullet to realize and accept that our local, state, federal, foreign governments and politicians do not have the best interest for our well being; That we can just simply walk away from it all.

Everyone and I mean EVERYONE just needs to start by NOT using banks and/or money, NOT using their automobiles, STOP buying at food stores owned by TPTB, START living and being self-sufficient, STOP working for what "TPTB" desire, STOP working for the army, or for the M.Ps, STOP listening/watching mindless programs, actually gain some real knowledge. We do not need (keyword "need") any of what "they" offer any longer. People throughout history have made it own their own. SO WILL WE

What will be left for "them" to control when "they" no longer have people fighting "their" wars that "they" cause?? What will be left for "them" to control when we do not use "their" currency?? What will be left for them to control when we do not use anything "they" try and provide us any longer?? Who will be left for them?? THEMSELVES. Let them fight their own battles. It's time they kill each other off. It's time we rid the world of this negative energy.

SIMPLY WALK AWAY. WE THE PEOPLE, OF THE WORLD, ARE MORE POWERFUL AND STRONGER, THAN THE FEW WHO TRY AND CONTROL US. WE THE PEOPLE, OF THE WORLD, ARE DOING THE WORK FOR THEM. WE THE PEOPLE, REALLY MAKE THINGS WORK. AND, WE WILL NOT BE STEPPED ON OR BE TAKEN FOR GRANTED ANY LONGER. IT WILL WORK WHEN WE STAND TOGETHER AND BELIEVE NOT ONLY IN OURSELVES, BUT ONE ANOTHER AS WELL.

RAISE AWARENESS.
IT IS TIME FOR EVERYONE TO WAKE UP AND SEE THE TRUTH FOR THEMSELVES.

No longer do we need to argue any more. That is a waste of time as of now. No longer must we fight each other. No longer do we need them to tell us how to live our lives. WE ARE MANY THEY ARE FEW. WE STILL HAVE A CHANCE. IT ALL DEPENDS ON US..ITS ALL UP TO US

That my friend, is the truth !! spoken like a true scholar! I do believe the people have become way too complacent, and we do need to wake up! and unite as one! I also believe, that as a people, in whole, we do not like change, but rather just watch the world revolve around us. so your words, truly spoken. thanks you!

yes, unfortunately it has, and why? why does it take so much blood shed to win a war? does somebody just wake up some morning and say to themselves, hmm, gee look at all of my friends laying dead over there, its too much to bear, so I give up, you win. I know it is more like hey, a majority of my population just was vaporized, so if I want my people to still be here, I better give up! I know it sounds ridiculous being put that way, but is that how it works? and why? why can't the powers to be just put themselves in the peoples position, and stop the insanity?

too many questions, not enough answers. thanks for your input!

Right there you just answered why there are wars. Those in control, from dictators to presidents, just don't care about us. If a leader cared he would fight like hell to avoid war, not think of it as a viable and reasonable solution. Right now my government has placed our soldiers all over the world to protect the people of foreign lands. Well, why isn't the government doing everything in its power to protect our soldiers? These soldiers are OUR children. They're not freaking chess pieces.

Maybe the answer is: If a leader fully believes that a war is the only way out, then it should cost him/her/them something. Maybe they should have to, automatically, spend twenty years in prison. Hey, if they believe that strongly about a war, then they should feel proud to make that personal sacrifice. And, that would end all wars.
