Making some sense to all this alien speculation

I would like everyone to consider a number of observations when speculating about the variety of alien species and their intentions based on the observatins spanning across this message board.

If we are to premise that aliens are more advanced than the human race (ie they got here before we got to them) then we must consider that current speculations on alien existence and descriptions are a figment of human imaginations that lack the understanding of a realistic assesment of what they could really be...................

Let look at our current technologies on this planet first and see where it is leading us.................

computer technology and robotics...........we are headed to a silicon artifical based life rather than a carbon base human life in the next 50 to 100 years.........It is very reasonable to assume that robotic life would eliminate many of the issues facing the human race today such as lifespan, natural resources and war over them, pollution etc. By the time we as a species would ever be able to travel to the stars and search for other intelligent life we would have long shed our biological past for a silicon based reality.

Why then do humans continually insist that aliens are of a biological nature? and that they are often looking to probe us for biological content? Any race capable of traveling through space to discover us would have cast aside those primative needs long ago.................

Nanotechnology..............at our current rate this discipline will see artifical life evolve into smaller and smaller machines.............It is very possible the human design artifically evolved to machine life of robots will further more be reduced drastically in size...................

Why then are aliens always looked at in a human conceptual package? Odds are if they have the technology to discover us they might be here in artifical form so small that we wouldn't even have a clue that they are among us.........

The bottom line is that UFO enthusiasts state elaborate theories of how aliens can traverse space in light type speed or hyper dimensional permiation to get here...........and then when they do..........they look, act and use primative abduction and examination methods of us that would have no use or interest to them.............

and all the while this goes on there is never one shred of real evidence by these enthusiasts of any visit to our planet.

Its fun to speculate about this subject, but its practice is more psydoscience than the hard evidence and repeatable testing and study of serious scientific discpline...........

Is there intelligent life in the universe other than on Earth??

Perhaps...........but the universe is so vast and so distant between objects that any species capable of tranversing it to reach us would be in such a current technological state that we humans would represent even less than a virus to them and their interest.............

Read Sagan's book on "the demon haunted world" for further insight into alien speculations and the search for intelligent life in the universe for a better perspective on things...........

You make valid points. i have a book that has descriptions of various EBEs seen world wide and I find it interesting that depending on the country of origin, the "alien" had a distinctive look that related to that country. Scandinavian sightings showed a gnome-like critter. It may a socio-psycholigic thing, sure.

In Sagan's book he explains how through the ages whatever was popular at the time influenced the perception of aliens..............such as the Flying dutchman ship in the sky.........dwarfs........gobblens, elvs and such were the "aliens" of those days..........

An interesting story on Nova explained that there is a place in the human brain that can be stimulated during surgery to elicit the large head grey type image so often mentioned by abductees...........It has lead the medical community to wonder if some misfunction in neuron cell firing in the brain causes this imagine and imagination to create the experience of an abduction either conscious or unconsciously.............

No one really saw Flying saucers until they were discribed as such in the late 40's and made public.............ever since that has been the dominating object seen............

Also remember the humans are "compelled" to see things or expect patterns and/or shapes where they don't exist...........

This is hardwired into our brain through evolution as a survival mechanism....

What I mean is this............

Watch a newborn infant when it feeds with its mother............It fixates it eyes on the monther's face to recognize the "pattern" of the mothers face. It recognizes this pattern as a safe person...............when it sees an unknown face the infant often crys until its mother's presence is felt..........

This process saved early humans from trusting unknown faces..........those babies that trusted only their mother's face and screamed when something different came along were often saved from danger...........that trait through natural selection has been hardwired to our brains over the ages........

Now what is key here is this..............our suggestive nature to seeing patterns we desire is related to this hardwired trait in our infancy.........We crave the completion of random patterns as something we recognize.........

In a religious sense this is why people see angels and such in the skies or pictures............

In regards to viewing the paranormal and such we create a false expectation through this process that influences our objective search without even knowing it...........

In pyschology this is called Gesulatism after Gesult who research that fact that humans desire to see things that aren't there...........

More commonly you see this with Rochardt or Ink blot pictures that psychologist often ask what people see in the patterns...........

It is very hard to remove the prejudice of evolution from our brain function and behavior when it has been so hard wired from natural selection over the ages................

Einstein once said he was able to remove all prejudice from this brain (he once defined prejudice as "everything I learned before the age of 21) and look at a page of printed words in a language he reads with and not see the words or what they mean but just be able look at them as swiggles and lines (kind of like you or I would like at a printed language we've never seen before)........

........Try that sometime.........even on the words in this post and you will find it very hard if not impossible.............but then again Einstein was a very special open minded thinker.................

Speculation based on speculation. First to assume that we will cast off our biological bodies...second to then assume aliens will do likewise...

Incorrect, we can see them in art in the Renaissance era, etc. quite clearly, not to mention there are other sightings accounts that seriously pre-date the 40's. We've got several threads here on it.

There are far more than shreds... Government documents, photos, video, gun-camera footage, materials which test inconclusive but seem to be beyond the tech of man, etc. Not to mention thousands of eye-witness accounts, many from professional fields, high-ranking military, ex-presidents, etc.

You're forgetting than many cases aren't even recalled except through hypnosis, and much of the best cases were far before the abduction phenomenon became known to the public at large. The Hill case is a good subject for study on this.

It's not elaborate in theory, it's quantum physics. Many leading physicists, including Hawking, have speculated on FTL travel. As for assuming they have no use for us, how would we know or even suspect on their possible motives...???

Sorry, but if thinking that thousands of people are crazy, including those professionals mentioned, and that they're simply fooling themselves....or that the government simply wasted a lot of money and effort investigating it, makes you sleep better at night, then keep telling yourself that...but it won't change the fact that they seem to be here.....
