Weather channel confirmed 2 dead so far.

I expect that number to go up the way they were describing the area.

yes and at least 100 injured. Getting help from surrounding counties. They thought it would hit us but we seemed to squeak between the storms hitting granbury and cleburne.

Reports earlier of a mile wide tornado near Cleburne and 5-6 inches of rain.

Thoughts with all the folks in Granbury and Cleburne.

Our weather guy in West Texas was focusing on Cleburne earlier this evening even though they are out of our "viewing" area. It must have been one terrible storm.

We had some strong thunderstorms, but they were nothing compared to these beasts.

Three deaths confirmed from Texas tornadoes - sheriff's office

www.trust.org...

Three tornadoes were reported on Wednesday southwest of the Dallas-Fort Worth area with a number of people injured and homes destroyed, as well as least three confirmed deaths, a spokeswoman for the Hood County sheriff said.

"We're going house to house right now," sheriff's Lieutenant Kathy Jividen told Reuters by telephone, adding that most the damage was in two housing subdivisions just outside of the town of Granbury, about 35 miles southwest of Fort Worth.

She said three storm-related deaths had been confirmed and that at least 28 people injured were registered as patients at a local hospital. CNN said several people were killed more than 100 others were reported injured. (Reporting by David Bailey; Writing by Steve Gorman; Editing by Cynthia Johnston)

A "casualty" is not a "kill" or a "death", is also an "injured" or "lost".

EDIT: by "lost" I meant mia.

My mother was there!

She was on a storm chasing tour, and was posting updates to her Facebook as it happened. They barely ecaped, and ended up driving people to the hospital in the aftermath. Pretty crazy. It was too late to talk to her as she was exhausted, but I'm going to call her tomorrow.

Yeah, twice as many as the Boston Bombing incident. Just saying.

Hundreds of people have been injured and their homes are destroyed. The survivors will struggle for months trying to put their lives back together. This was a very big deal in our state. Please have some respect.

You do know that casualty does mean the same thing as fatality ?
Even if you don't , does it really matter?
6 innocent people lost their lives.

I drove all night thru the storm. It was pretty bad at times. Weird weather--at one point a foot of
water on the interstate and ten miles north dry roads.

Some of my coworkers took shelter in onsite storm shelters for awhile and we even had some locals
who knew the shelter was there bring their families.

This morning on the way home I saw many homes with their roofs torn off and even a stretch
of chain link fence that the wind had literally laid over on the ground--just bent it down. Lots of power
lines and trees uprooted. Missed all the hail though....

My family fell asleep in an interior walk-closet...while waiting for the storm to pass. One tornado
missed us by about three miles.

Lotsa clean-up to do for many around here

Really glad your family made it through. That's a bad feeling being away and knowing harm is around them.

My sister lives in Burleson, which is close to Cleburne. I called her this morning and she is fine, but says TV and internet are out. Sorry for the families who lost people and hope the injured get well soon.

On the fox feed they are reporting that another tornado has popped up and is heading towards the Dallas area.

Pretty crazy night weather wise here in the DFW area, luckily my area just got some much needed torrential rains

I saw that one on the NWS base velocity radar just before the warning was issued. Sirens went off soon after. Luckily, that one dissipated before it could get to my area. Was an interesting evening.

We went through the bottom edge of it not far from Dallas before the tornado hit. It didn't seem that bad. A little bit of lightning, a LOT of rain. I was shocked when I heard about how big the hail was, and that there was a tornado from it.
