I was thinking about why people call in bomb threats. Perhaps you could add your opinions to these scenarios.

1.) No bomb / Bomb threat: The obvious reason to me seems to be for inciting fear and to disrupt the business of the establishment. Plain and simple.

2.) Bomb / No bomb threat: Again this is quite simple, the reasons seem to be murder, destruction, disruption and even to purvey a point of some sort.

3.) Bomb / Bomb threat: This is the one that I have a problem with. Why go through the risk of getting caught planting a bomb if you are going to give people time to find it? Just to show that you can in order to incite fear? Wouldnt the fear generated by the first scenario do just as well?

no, no one would take the threat-maker seriously after the first instance.

if you plant a bomb and call in a threat, you give them the chance to find it so that you don't kill anyone, provided you didn't want to kill anyone, but you still let them know you are serious. now, what opportunities that may grant you is another question, usually, none.
