Seismic activity increased, plus spewing steam over half mile into the sky.

Mexican officials have closed 7-square mile area surrounding the volcano...

But is that enough?

This could be the beginning of "the end"?

Why would this be the beginning of the end? Is this a super volcano?

That is a pretty impressive video, however I'm wondering why it has "*copyright symbol* 1AW 2011" in the middle of the frame around the 1 minute mark. The Youtube link does show that the video was updated on 05/13/2013, but does anyone here know if this is just an older video they are trying to pass off as new?

50 to 70 Volcanoes erupt each year on average. Over the long term volcanic activity is decreasing as the Earth ages.

Popocatepetl has put out small eruptions of ash almost daily since a round of activity began in 1994. The eruptions started strengthening two weeks ago and have increased even more this weekend.

It was mentioned in the News last night also.

I believe that video was shot in 2011. Even the lofty sources posted in this thread show something different with the current eruption

Been following this guys blog for a while considering his earthquake theory. Seems he has been calling for an earthquake in the same region. Says around an 8 but doesn't give a precise date, next few days to months.

Both, the Volcano is erupting, although the pictures posted of the 2013 eruption do not look like the one filmed with the 2011 watermark.

I would bet money on the 2011 one being form 2011...

An explosive eruption has started at Popocatepetl outside of Mexico City. The restless Mexican volcano has been producing steam-and-ash plumes intermittently over the past year, but tonight there is a significant ash plume accompanied by large incadescent blocks being thrown down the slopes of the volcano. Show the growing ash column and eventual explosion that occurred at 20:14 PM local time in Mexico.The ash plume has been spotted as high as 7.6 km / 25,000 feet heading to the southeast according to the latest Washington VAAC update. However, the first local reports put the ash plume at 3.2 km / 10,500 feet. Before this activity, CENAPRED had the volcano on Yellow-Level 2 alert status.

What the OP is actually showing is a clip from the same volcano but at a different time. I don't think this was done intentially.
Either way- I'm struggling to find much on this. Is this happening whilst we speak ? I can't seem to find ANY news reports etc...

I do know it has been quite active since the 8th.
