*Whispers Of Harmony* New Graphic Art

I just recently started getting really interested in Graphic Art. I normally paint or work with pencils or charcoals, but decided to see what I could do with photoshop. I have a few more that I have done but this one is my favorite.

Thoughts? Anyone else do graphic design?

Thats probably why I recognized it then huh?

All I did was combine different symbols into one. I guess I was hoping for some feedback or some tips from other graphic designers

I guess there is not a lot of designers on ATS?

The guys in the avatar creations thread are all about photoshop (and gimp) maybe take it there someone might also like a smaller version as an avatar

I wish I could get into something like that, and I would..only if I had a real laptop..I have an iPad can't upload.

I have all these designs in my head that I want to create but haven't quite figured out how to do it!!
I have a kindle (gets frustrating) and have really learned to appreciate my laptop much more.

Ive studied graphic design for a part of my life. What you've done is an excellent job for your first go!
Just some general things you could improve....
The actual image needs to stand out more from the back ground. Hard to say over the computer, but if you have applied individual layers. Try applying a strong "bevil & emboss" to the out ring and certain parts on the center piece, this will create depth and make it appear in front.
Your back ground star system is to also to crisp which takes away focus from the center piece. Your going to want to dull this somehow. This can be done a few ways, Transparency, zoom/motion blur would probably be ideal, it will soften the pixels. Im not sure what youve done with the border, it looks bevilled, you could reduce the amount if so, and add a drop shadow to give this depth also. Perhaps an outa glow/inner glow somewhere.

You may have already done some of these things, its hard to see with out it in front of me. Just experiment, and use lots of layers, keep as much separate as possible. As soon as you merge two items you cant add an effect ever again.

Considering you've just started it looks good! I'm just starting to study graphic design. It's really enjoyable, though sometimes a little frustrating when things just won't work the way you want them too!!

oh no, dont wish for that, several including me are glad you posted!
i think its quite startling, i mean it grabs your attention. i love it.
the background and colors that nudge the square sides i'm not sure about.
both mandalas and crop circles really interest me and i did several on t-shirts.
keep on doing them, maybe show some more.
