It's horrific! She is trying to protect old dirty men.

Not only would lowering the age of consent protect these dirtbags it would also put a lot more young people at risk of assault as the consequences would not be as severe.

I do not have children and i suspect she musnt have either but i can clearly see that this would be wrong on so many levels.

Here the legal age of consent is 14.

I know for many it may seem too young, yet we must agree that age of consent is a blade with two sides.

One hand there are many sexual predators who want young girls. Higher age of content would make such thing illegal and prevent such people at least up to some point.

Although we must also consider that there are young people, who just fall in love. If the age of costent is 18, then it is possible for an 18-20 year-old to get jail time when they sleep with their 17 year-old girlfriend. I remember a case from US, when 17 year-old was locked up for 10 years, simply because he slept with his 15 year-old girlfriend. That is absurdic, although there are idiot parents like that out there, who do not have any common sense and simply follow the rules.

I believe the laws on such matters should be made more flexible in the sense that the age difference would also be considered. Something like 10/15 years maximum age difference, when a person is from 14-15. After 16 age difference does not matter.

Most pedophiles and predators are middle-aged, so their actions would still be illegal, although young people who fall in love do not get punished for some stupid law.

They weren't old men when they committed the abuse.

They were young men, superstars, and should be held to account for abuse of trust.

The word pedo, is absued so much lol, there are different words for 10-12 yrs old, and 12-14 yrs olds...

I might be interested in seeing the age of consent lowered, not for old men, but for those in the younger age groups. Say those under the age of 21 should not be prosecuted criminally for engaging in sexual acts with those in their same age group. And if there is a significant age difference in that 21 year old bracket possibly it should be dealt with through other means like therapy, but not through incarceration.
