Happy to be here. I have been following ATS for about 5 years, only joining now due to an absurd feeling of "now or never". I've been fearing being belittled to a list, a stereotype, a personality. However, the world could not be in a worse place right now, and I understand numbers create change.

About myself- I am male, a 25 year old product designer from Cambridge, MA. I recently moved to western Massachusetts to be closer to untouched nature. I play piano, I sing, I code, I paddle, I love this life.

Maybe I've told you too much. I am here to reach out to what I believe to be a gathering of great people on this planet.

Come together, right now

Just be yourself and you'll be ok...or not.

I always try to ignore the folk who neener, neener me.

What do you code? I like python, java, web stuff. I'm interested in the old questions of AI - using computer systems as a way to understand ourselves.

I've gone through a few phases. In the 8th grade I was writing HTML & PHP. I've since moved to Rails, Python and Java. I've had great training in the city, and am now proficient in CSS, JS & user experience. I would enjoy offering my services to this website, actually.

Thank you for the welcomes, I'm sure I'll do fine here!

Welcome CT...

I've been fearing being belittled to a list, a stereotype, a personality.

These are character building moments, so if it happens, consider it an opportunity.

Enjoy it.

Firstly....put your pointer and second finger to your lips and b-b-b-b-b and that represents my knowledge and understanding of what was just said (above), let alone capability to actually do anything in that area.

So I'll just stick to welcome
and say I hope they're nice to you.
Most of 'em are quite lovely with a few amazing stand outs, gotta be clever to spot them, but they're there all the same. They're kind of sneaky like that.

Now or never sounds about right, but 'now' can stretch for as long as you like.....

@Amanda- Thank you for the welcome! It's been fun noticing the personalities that run rampant through these forums. As someone who builds technology like this, it's a learning experience to watch you all interact & share knowledge through a simple piece of software. The success of this website is astounding.

Random question, I guess it's my first. I've had a few experiences in the last few years that have further attracted me to ATS. How do you suggest I explain myself to the forum? New threads, voicing my opinion and experiences on current threads, lay low for a while, etc... This seems a place of confrontation if stories are not presented well, but I have so much truth to share.

ATS needs a page for logged in users that just shows replies to their replies. I'm new here and it may exist and I'm just not seeing it, but its a great function on forums. It really cultivates discussion, without asking people to go through 20 pages of replies to see if somebody responded to them.

Hello neighbor! I'm in Rhode Island. Don't you for one minute hesitate to post because of what someone else might say or think. There are plenty of others who will stand by your side. Jump right in and share whatever you'd like.

Howdy neighbor! And welcome to ATS. Though I feel weird saying that because I still consider myself a noob but I'll extend the electronic handshake nonetheless.

I live in Uxbridge, which is just about exactly between Cambridge and "Western MA." It's close enough to the city to be commutable but enough away from true suburbia to be livable.

My best advice to you is to explore all the forums and understand what each is about. Use the search function - thoroughly and often. Beware of trolls. And enjoy this wonderful community. Don't get discouraged, which from time to time you will. Be patient, observe, learn, and settle in. And remember this is not a popularity contest.

@NightStar @otherpotato Great advice, thank you.

@otherpotato I know Uxbridge, nice place, still getting settled into these surrounding parts. It's so quiet out here

I'm no expert but thank you for asking.
I've created a couple of doozies here myself.

Just write how you speak, there will be some who will correct your grammer for you, that's a given. They can't help themselves.
Keep a sense of humour, be as honest as you can, don't be afraid to pull someone up if they are being unnecessarily rude, this site does not tolerate bullies, which is cool.

From personal experience, I overlook nasties (I wont respond) unless you feel strongly about it, that's probably a good way to handle them.

Just jump in and have fun.
Don't forget to get out and get sun and fresh air, ats can be intoxicating at times, brain space is a must.

What sort of threads will you do?

I am interested in ET life, where we came from, where we're going. I have had sightings & interactions for the last 10 years, since I was 15. I'm not really concerned with the plethora of media waiting to be debunked- just looking for others to share stories with, I'm here to learn.

Aside, I do spend an equal amount of time in each forum. You're right, this place can draw you in for so long you'll forget which day it is.

It's nice to connect with all of you. Thanks again for the welcome
