i was wondering how do you use the birthdate to calculate the personality number, essence number, and fool's journey? i'm guessing there's some numberology involved.
for folks who don't want to post personal info, it'd be helpful if they could calculate those numbers themselves and then those numbers to you.

just curious, which deck do people pick the most? i have a morgan greer deck. i know raider waite is popular, but i'm not a big fan of the artwork. robin wood, who did illustrations for scott cunningham's books, did artwork for her own deck and it's very nice.

Before I get into this, I'd like to point out that you asked for the direction to "success" rather than happiness. This is very much in line with your personality card I posted earlier. You are an emperor. Happiness often is success with you. However, there is much more going on right now that makes you question whether or not you really benefit from this nature of ambition. I think you are currently in the "Hermit" stage I spoke of in that post.

So, for you, I did "The Star" spread which is a pretty straight forward reading. Usually. Yours plays so much into your birth date cards that I had to really think around some corners to make sure I wasn't being too influenced by what I knew from that.

1 - Querient / Standing - The Moon - This card is often tricky. On one hand, it espouses the hidden things in your life but, on the other, it is a command to bring out some emotions and feelings you have been wrestling with and are somewhat obscured. Considering this is your personal standing, this pretty much represents you and your situation... but mostly you. You are currently in transition and getting your thoughts in order. What is keeping you from doing this effectively is the awkwardness you feel with many of these thoughts you are sorting through. Get right with your gods/spirituality and throw off the awkwardness. This will get you in to position to better succeed.

2 - Your Tasks - 3 of Wands - You will notice that the person on the card has two staffs confidently planted in the ground and the other is being held rather casually. He owns these and they are old friends. These are his tools and represent his passion and motivation... at rest. Off in the horizon, in the water there are ships heading to shore. He is waiting for these. He is going to get good news from these ships and they will help him decide on where to apply energies. Your tasks right now has been simply waiting. Waiting for good news but, really, just waiting. You are in a stasis and don't really have a task. At least your horizons are bright and you can bet on the side of good news coming.

3 - Difficulties or Reservations - Judgement (upside-down) - Right now you are dealing with the results of some bad decisions. Things you have done in the past are now coming to fruition and are now negatively impacting your life. The good news is, once that is dealt with, the card can be viewed as rightside-up and you will get the positive results of your good decisions you've made. Basically, this is just an obstacle that makes you feel like you are strapped. Just remember that tackling this head on is not a waste of your time nor is it counterproductive. The lessons you learn from fixing this issue will actually be valuable to have in your toolbox down the road.

4 - Your Strengths - 8 of Wands - How fitting for an Emperor of your caliber, heh heh. The 8 of Wands is your passion getting away from you. It is a "get on with it" card that is very action oriented. One thing you'll notice is that there is no person in it. This indicates that you can lose yourself in your obsessing over your future and being successful. The fact that this is under "strength" means that, if you harness your own fires, they will be your best allies. Also of note, in other contexts, this card can sometimes mean travel (usually by air) is in your future.

5 - Your Goal - 6 of Pentacles (upside-down) - Normally, the 6 of Pentacles is very charity-oriented. However, in this case (being upside-down), you may be more worried about being ripped off and swindled. To answer your question about which way your success can be found, it will be in watching your assets and being very careful with your investments. If you are thinking about getting into a profession that possibly takes advantage of others, you will succeed in it. For happiness, however, giving freely of your talents on the side will bring you peace of mind.

So, all-in-all, I'd say that your path to success will be paved with unhappiness and victimization. If you want success, take the most profitable path you have before you and you are almost guaranteed to be wildly great at it. But that won't necessarily be the right way to do it. If you were to, instead, fix your judgments against you and deal with those feelings that make you feel uncomfortable, you will get a more altruistic opportunity that will bring happiness even if less money.

Good 'cause you're next! Unfortunately, I'm drained as I just got off a loooong shift and will have another tomorrow.
