Why would the department of homeland security seize this website?

Did you ever watch the mockumentary that aired on the discovery channel or animal planet. It was the one about mermaids. Well "they" seized this website. Why are they threatened by it? Is it because they fear people will protest sonar being used? Do they not want people to believe an intelligent presence exists in the sea and that we could be doing something that causes harm to it?

Well all know that humans know less about the bottom of the ocean than the surface of the moon. Have you seen videos of octopus camouflaging themselves?

Or a flatfish

A cuttlefish can change color and texture much like the octopus

Perhaps there are other things we have not discovered because they are blending in very well.

Anyway, I don't think there has been a great deluge of angry people protesting the use of sonar, military presence or various scientific agencies doing research. Even if a few people are complaining, most would not have the resources to actually do anything about it. So why seize a mermaid website? What is it they are threatened by?

Awesome videos. Strange state-of-affairs in regards to the website seizure. First thing that came to mind as a possible explanation was that maybe the owner of the website is involved in a terrorism investigation or something along those lines.

Edit

Hoax information posted below.

I'd be surprised if a publicly-traded company like Discovery Communications LLC would engage in such a hoax without approval from Federal authorities. Big legal liability to a wide range of parties including shareholders if they don't have the OK from the Feds.

its fake bro.

If it was true then it would have a DNS redirect to DHS rather then serving the picture from their server. Also the registration info would be changed.

www.whois.com...

Also its a publicity stunt for their new upcoming show on discovery about mermaids.

Also a simple search turns up this article explaining the seizure is a hoax. so yah its fake.

The mockumentary was fake. Yes. So if it was fake, then why are they threatened by it. Why take it down?

Is it because they don't want people to believe in mermaids? If so, what is threatening about that. People believe a lot of things. So what?

If people did believe in mermaids, perhaps more people would protest the use of sonar. Maybe people would protest about military presence or government research at sea. I suppose they could be threatened by that. I can't understand what else it could be.

I never went to the website before it was taken down so I don't know what it could have contained which was threatening.

Probably because there is intelligent life that sonar and war games are harming.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
Although I am a believer that there are species that we don't know exist or they are covering up their existence for one reason or another, so this may be another reason. Still, I have to declare the obvious and state that they don't want people knowing that their tests and machines are doing damage.

If they are hosting this image themselves and only wish for us to believe that DHS has taken down the site, then thanks for clearing this up.

I sure thought it was "fishy" that DHS would be threatened by mermaids.

I thought mermaids were a fairytale too, then I saw the following video... now I'm not sure
Things that make you go Mmmm...

If you watch it in slow motion, the mermaid moves her tail like a fish... human ankles can not bend backwards

I have no idea why they seized the website, but this octopus here blows all of your examples away...

I'll take a stab at it.
Probably because it is one step away from the topic of shape shifting.

Well if they are real, I would imagine they would look mostly like clumps of seaweed most of the time, bunches of coral or rocks. I don't think they would look like what our current world view says. We would most likely find them to be very ugly by human standards.

I think the man's post is satire. That is just my thinking.

If he is for real...? Well then get the net.

Well, I think it is very possible that something like a mermaid could exist. I don't think it would look much like us though. A mermaid would probably look unattractive to us but then I doubt if we would look attractive to them. I also doubt if they would even come close to humans in the water, they probably would have a history of bad relationships with mankind.

Just because there is no evidence, doesn't mean that there is no way it can exist. Our radar or sonar wouldn't be able to distinguish a fish from a mermaid. I feel that the sonar would make these beings leave if they were around.

I won't deny they exist but won't say they do either. It's much more interesting to have an open mind. I would dare anyone to prove to me that something like what we call a mermaid does not exist, that would be impossible.

4 or so years ago there was a mock umentary of real life dragons being discovered. My brother in law was sitting there with his jaw dropped flabbergasted that these real-life flying over sized fire breathing lizards really do exist for real.

For reasons of respect and for reasons of dignity of others , I did not laugh at him or mock him or roll on the floor laughing when he finally got the news it was a fictional documentary.

Keep that in mind people. Don't ruin peoples perception if their perception is beneficial to their long-run.

Seems the fake seizure of the mermaid site has been discussed here before a time or two.

As mentioned above, seized without a redirect and other site material attached to the image, etc. BS.

The issue I have with some of the names they use like Homeland security, ciitizen is because it sounds like other countries. Whats wrong with US security agency and US soldier. If ther rest of you find no issues with the labeling then whats the difference. Majority rules as they say. Biut I can see many reasons as to safegiuard the interent and web sites being used for illict reasons would be under that mandate.
