Definition of CONSPIRACY THEORY : a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators
While "conspiracy theorists" are often derided or the target of jokes, the fact remains that Americans love a good conspiracy theory. Many of the more popular and highest grossing movies are based on core ideas of UFO's, government conspiracies and related coverups.
AboveTopSecret.com is the Internet's largest and most popular discussion board community dedicated to the intelligent exchange of ideas and debate on a wide range of "alternative topics" such as conspiracies, UFO's, paranormal, secret societies, political scandals, new world order, terrorism, and dozens of related topics with a diverse mix of users from all over the world.
Deny ignorance is what we do. It's how we think. It's how we talk. It's how we listen.

Now I would like to know why people who decide to read a thread that is clearly going to discuss a conspiracy theory, do NOT discuss any theory but come there to DERIDE anyone who will not just bow to the mainstream thought.

Sometimes though, rarely, you just see something that you know is blatantly wrong, and just screams out for correction.

Disagreeing with a conspiracy theory IS discussing it. Being a skeptic in general, I give my opinion on the conspiracy theories I see here. Most times, I disagree with them, because it becomes clear that the "theorists" are believing the most unlikely scenarios.
Disagreeing with a conspiracy theory is not the same as deriding those who believe it.
I don't know which particular thread or threads you're referring to, but if someone puts forth a theory that is unbelievable, I'm going to give my opinion and say why.

I think there have been enough real conspiracies throughout the governments History to justify questioning of events in general.

These people NEVER have any evidence.
All they have are insults.
Insults are a sign of desperation.
Since they have nothing intelligent to say, all they have left is to attempt to manipulate emotions.

Absolutely, a very valid point. Even in "out there" topics, like the different conclusions and lies in the different Roswell investigations (like trying to use dummies to explain bodies, when the dummy tests were 5 YEARS AFTER the Roswell Incident)!

For example, there are certain theories that would rely on having thousands of people keeping it quiet and that's just not logical.

Respectfully, this a public forum, and the " Nay Sayers " help to balance the ego massaging conspiracy theorists, making for interesting debate...
And after all, everyone is entitled to their opinion, whether we agree with it or not.
That there is the main point.

Now see here is the problem. Are you expecting those who disagree with your THEORY to just go away? How the hell do you expect to expand your theory? Prove it? Do you just want accolades and a slap on the back?
We're not here to give each other lip service, we're here for answers. That said, some people do exactly what you are talking about, but for the most part, it's people like me coming in poking holes in your theory.
That's the entire point of this site. I don't have to agree with you to discuss it.
"Hey man,. boston was a false flag"
"yeah"
"Yuppers"
"I know right?"
What the hell is the point to THAT thread?
But let me ask you.
Can You Not Contemplate the Possibility that it's NOT a Conspiracy?
clearly many of you can't, it HAS to be a conspiracy, and anyone pointing out inconsistencies or problems with your theory is a closed minded sheep.
honestly, if this rant is how you truely feel ATS should function, i suggest you go register at GPL.
