Can you imagine!!, after 2 DAYS in labor your first is born 4 months early and on top of that you are still carrying another baby inside.

I ran into this while researching my family tree with my grandfather & his twin sister. One born in December, the other in February. I thought it must be a mistake in the records, until I found it hand-written in the family bible. I wondered what this poor mother thought, back in the 1800s. I didn't know this was even possible, but then I found this over on the Straight Dope Message Board:
