If I've understood correctly there's an enormous support for forced homosexual relations as long as they happen within prisons, as they are an excellent method of controlling the prison population. As long as the prison officials flatly deny everything the problem doesn't apparently exist.

For example:

A corrections department internal survey of guards in a southern state (provided to Human Rights Watch on the condition that the state not be identified) found that line officers--those charged with the direct supervision of inmates--estimated that roughly one-fifth of all prisoners were being coerced into participation in inmate-on-inmate sex.

Do you think renewed administration will do the christian right thing about this ? Or do they only have problem with voluntary homosexuals ?

"Land of the free to gangbang their cellmate but not get married..." sounds catchy.

"Compassionate of the conservative tradition of raping fellow inmates the way God intended"... this would've really pulled people to the polls.

I wonder why there is not more public outcry over the unofficial "institution" of prison rape. What does it do to these men psychologically? Does it increase the possibility of them having more problems when they get out of jail? Does it make them more prone to committing violence? Do victims of these assaults even get any counseling in the prison? Just one more oft-ignored factor that has to change if this country truly wants peace & a reduction in criminal conduct.

Punishment for commiting a legal offence is understandible, but there is no situation in which torture or the known allowance of torture is moral, ethical or just.
