With comments like these from Parrish, (Your elected offical)
You wonder why Americans are so upset with Canada!

I say close the US border at Canada, shut down all trade and commerce and see how long she stays in office. This is BS! She needs to go!!!

Bush administration as American "bastards

Parrish: U.S. Voters 'Out of Step'

OTTAWA (CP) - The re-election of a war-mongering president shows Americans are "out of step" with the rest of the world, says a Liberal MP infamous for her blistering attacks on George W. Bush.

Carolyn Parrish said Wednesday that she's "dumbfounded" by Bush's victory. "He has been reconfirmed as their commander-in-chief, and he is a war-like man." American voters showed that they are "completely out of step with most of the free world," Parrish said. "I guess it's a reflection of the profound psychological damage of 9-11."

She is an idiot. She does not speak for her country or the Liberal (that's her party) caucus.

The Prime Minister has been quite clear that she is on his s***list and I guess she feels she has nothing to lose. The party doesn't take kindly to loose cannons and although they can't reign her in, there are other ways of punishing her including the ultimate- the PM can refuse to sign her nomination papers for the next election.

Ignore her. We all do.

Edit: we are your largest trading partner. Shutting the border (ain't gonna happen) would be cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Why is it that every time someone in Canada says or does something which displeases the United States, there's always someone to say that all of Canada should be "punished" for it?

A small village in British Columbia wants to put up a monument to Vietnam draft objectioners. Suddenly all of Canada must pay, and all Canadian goods must be boycotted.

A Canadian MP - there are 308 of those, by the way - happens to be the foot-in-the-mouth, generalize-to-everyone type, and suddenly all trade with Canada should stop.

Can we please stop killing mosquitoes with rocket launchers?

Maybe I should start boycotting American goods because of what Jesse Helms said about us.

Yeah, good call Otts. On this same topic, aren't MPs allowed to have opinions?

I hear plenty of Maericans badmouthing Canada all the time. I don't call for your country to be punished. Just because a person says somethign that you don't like doesn't mean they should be punished. Free speech, anyone?

Carolyn Parrish may be an Idiot sometimes but she is echoing the thoughts of many many Canadians(and most of the world) right at this very moment(myself included) You see we have free speech, she is entitled to her Opinion however unpopular it may be to the right. She will probably chided by Martin, but she will not be kicked out of the Caucus, it is not a Capitol Offence in the commons to critcize anything, anybody or anycountry. Get over it! Boycott or Ban our goods all you want but if you do then your country will have to go farther abroad to get most of your goods. You do know that Canada is the USA's biggest trading partner right?
Just incase you doubt my word about how much goods us lowly Canucks provide you here is a graph and source.

EDIT:
Canada exports more oil than Venezuela and Mexico combined, and more than the Persian Gulf too

When the world starts using the Euro for oil trade we (the US) will be paying five US dollars for a gallon a petrol. As for trade, Canada might just say scr_w the US and start trading in Europe also. We made another mistake, will the world forgive us?

Vote for Democracy in 2008 and maybe the world will say, we'll give you another chance!

Or maybe Canada will say "Scr_w America, let's trade with China. They badmouth us less. Plus, they're probably willign to trade more and the trade will pay better."

Anyways, what are the chances that the blind masses will vote democratic in the near future?

The America I knew growing up is dead or dying. I guess that depends how many people jump the border...

My last post was a joke, as Parrish's comments before were. This time I think she hit the nail on the head. OK she's 1-1. Her previous remarks were not needed, her current one are actually fairly apt. Don't like it? Well you voted for the insane guy. Not anyones fault here, we can't vote in your election.

Shame, ain't it. IF Canada was just another state, Kerry woulda won hands down, by a landslide.

"IF" is a mighty 'big' word entailing a variety of scenerio's and loads of cause and effect.....btw, maybe a few phone calls can be made to help bring your hypothetical "if" to fruitition?

Parrish....freedom of speech...got to love it, eh? The tongue is indeed a mighty weapon, despite the weapon of choice being dull.

Why would all you Canadians defend Parrish shes and paid public official who should know better than to make public inflammatory comments about Canadas largest trading partner. This is the third time she has done this, totally unacceptable.

Have you all noticed that the boarded is still closed to Canadian live cattle, and the soft wood lumber dispute?

Do you think the Bush Administration will even care to look at these issues as long as this type of thing is coming out of the Canadian Government?

I dont care if she feels this way or not but as one of are elected MPs she should be a states person a show some respect. How hard is it if you have nothing nice to say dont say anything at all.

Agitator - actually, I agree. If anything, she should show the nuance so many people seem to be lacking these days.

We're trying to bury her discreetly. Just like you guys did with Jesse Helms.

Im not familiar with Jesse Helms but last election I had the pleasure of kicking Jim Pankiw out of office.

Not familiar with Jim Pankiw... tell me about him.

I know that Jesse Helms infuriated a number of Canadians by implying that by having such a porous border, Canada was the terrorists' best ally...

Jim Pankiw was elected as a Canadian Alliance MP in 2000, by 2002 he was removed from the party for his constant inflammatory (down right racist really) statements about the Aboriginal people in Saskatchewan.

So for two year he sat as an independent MP and kept up his racist behavior, sending out flyers with titles such as, Stop Indian crime and Its clear who the racists are. He also ran for Mayor is Saskatoon (my home town) and divided the city with his hate filled comments that resonated with a lot of other racists here. Thankfully he lost that as well.

He doesnt recognize the treats that Canada has with the Aboriginal people.

In 2003 he was voted least effective MP by his peers in the house of commons.

oh, I see, a Canadian McCarthy. Lovely.

I'll say something that Canadians and Americans will both agree with - neither the Canadian Parliament nor the American Congress have the monopoly on idiots and crooks.

Remember the whole Bill Clennett affair? (for our American friends, Bill Clennett is an activist for social housing for the poor - he actually found himself demonstrating in our former PM Jean Chretien's way one day, and Chretien physically manhandled him) Well, my Quebec MLA (member of the legislative assembly) was called in Florida, where he was vacationing, to offer his reaction. It was that "rabble such as Clennett should be swept off the streets".

America, the Sociopolitical superpower;an entity with no spatiotemporal existence......chided by a Canadian Mp, and now screams " bloody murder!

Come on.

The Mp spoke his/her mind, simple as that. We do live in a society that lauds freedom of speech...

President Bush is an idiot, there, another Canadian said it; and, President Bush ADMITS that he is a "WAR" president....you are shocked, no ?

Probably not...
There are many conservatives in Canada, and I've met many a democrat from the US living in Canada who feels somewhat conservative compared to Canadian liberals. lol. Maybe the votes for Nader would have skyrocketed in Canada was just another state
