MOBILE, Ala (WALA) - The Mobile Fire and Rescue Department said units are on scene on east side of Mobile River where two fuel barges has exploded and are on fire.
Lt. Mike Clawson said a natural gas barge exploded this evening around 8:30 p.m.
It happened between the Bankhead Tunnel and waterways.
Members of the Coast Guard are on the scene investigation the cause. Officials said no one died, but some of crew reported burn injuries.
Two large explosions on a fuel barge in Mobile, Alabama could be felt from miles away in Spanish Fort and Daphne, Alabama, over 10 miles away across the river, according to local reports.
The blast occurred on a natural gas barge on the east side of Mobile River around 8:30 pm local time. Officials told Fox 10 News that there were no fatalities although some crew memebers did report burn injuries.
