MFRD: Fuel barges explode, on fire



MOBILE, Ala (WALA) - The Mobile Fire and Rescue Department said units are on scene on east side of Mobile River where two fuel barges has exploded and are on fire.

Lt. Mike Clawson said a natural gas barge exploded this evening around 8:30 p.m.

It happened between the Bankhead Tunnel and waterways.

Members of the Coast Guard are on the scene investigation the cause. Officials said no one died, but some of crew reported burn injuries.


Two massive explosions rock Mobile, Alabama



Two large explosions on a fuel barge in Mobile, Alabama could be felt from miles away in Spanish Fort and Daphne, Alabama, over 10 miles away across the river, according to local reports.

The blast occurred on a natural gas barge on the east side of Mobile River around 8:30 pm local time. Officials told Fox 10 News that there were no fatalities although some crew memebers did report burn injuries.

If thats an LNG ship you DO NOT want to be anywhere near it, LNG ships going boom are a total nightmare, never really happens, nobody is really sure how to deal with them.

Death is unsure.Fox Ten is the best news source in this area.This is scary because family is 1-2 miles from there.Thankfully there's no wind at the moment.

This is terrible.
What in god's name is going on with all the explosions lately!!?

It's becoming all too common place all too quickly.

There's an explosion here, no wait there's a bomb over there, no wait another explosion.... TOO MUCH


My thoughts are with anyone caught up in this latest tragedy.

This doesn't have anything to do with this explosion, but at the same time as this, there is a bomb threat in San Dimas Cali - people are being evac'd.

So much going on at the same time.
